I'm so happy that you're here! Life often presents a variety of challenges that you may not be prepared to face, especially if you are facing them alone. Those challenges can cause feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, confusion, and can leave you feeling like you are not grounded in yourself. My priority is to create a warm, safe space where you can explore why you are feeling this way, and make progress towards living the life you desire.

I specialize in working with couples and women experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, burnout and health-related challenges. My approach is active and practical. While I believe in listening and creating a safe space, I also provide clear, effective tools you can use in your daily life. Many people come to therapy feeling frustrated because they’ve been able to “vent,” but haven’t learned how to create change. I focus on helping clients understand how our brain works, how it affects our body and how to use that knowledge to our advantage.

I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT) - an approach balancing empathy/acceptance with realistic goal-setting and applicable coping strategies.
Life's a garden, dig it! Let's pull some weeds. I help men optimize emotional bandwidth and reduce mental clutter to build balanced lives and relationships. You’ve probably spent years working endlessly doing all the right things for yourself and others - only to still feel behind in whatever area. There's a better way to live life than staying in a dead end career path, a miserable relationship, or single when you don't have to be. I am here to guide that process so you can move towards relief and a life you doubted was possible, no matter how broken you may be. I want you to know what it's like to finally feel mentally healthy.

Together we will focus on more than symptom alleviation, but gaining insight into the beliefs, behavioral patterns, and relational history that informs and influences what you do and what you believe about yourself.

I primarily use DBT alongside a thoughtful mix of other evidence-based approaches — because no two people are the same.
My ideal clients are people who've spent most of their lives feeling like they don't quite fit. That might be someone who is neurodivergent and just figuring that out, a young adult finding their footing, or someone who has brushed their own needs aside for so long they're not sure what those needs are anymore. I came to counseling through education, and I brought with me the belief that people grow best when they feel safe enough to be honest. We talk about real things, make real plans, and move at a pace that makes sense for your life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
