Hello and welcome! I understand how difficult it is to ask for help. My goal is to create a safe space for you to be you- to just be human. Whether you are dealing with the shame of substance use issues, sexual identity concerns, or childhood traumas, I offer space for you to be vulnerable. What I do not provide is judgment. I offer acceptance. I believe we all heal through connection. I am here to support you through your individual journey- whatever that looks like. We can lay the burdens down together. You are not alone.

Are anxiety, stress, or past experiences keeping you stuck in your head and draining your energy? You might notice constant overthinking, irritability, or feeling emotionally exhausted. Sometimes these symptoms point to anxiety or stress, but they can also stem from underlying trauma. Trauma comes in many forms, and each person’s response is unique. We don’t get to choose whether an event feels traumatic, but we do have the power to heal, grow, and reclaim a sense of purpose.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I graduated with Bachelor in Social Work in 2010 and my Masters in Social work in 2015. I became fully licensed in 2018 and have been practicing ever since. Overall, I have been in the Social Work field for over 25 years and have been fortunate to work with an array of populations. My go-to Evidence-based Practice (EBP) are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Since it is rare that one person fits into one box, I have found these two modalities to be effective for one to learn new coping skills and add helping strategies to their toolkit.

Life is hard. Intense emotions, life transitions, difficulty with relationships, mental health concerns, trauma, rejection and loneliness; are only a few of the things we can struggle with at any given time. But you don’t have to deal with these issues alone. Counseling can serve as a place for you to process past hurts and life changes, identify unhelpful relationship patterns, find new coping skills and resources for strong emotions or mental health issues, or provide yourself with the ultimate self-care by setting an hour aside to reflect on where you are, where you want to go, and what obstacles are in the way of your goals.

I help men and women who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Many of my clients are navigating stress in relationships, grief, or the lingering impact of family-of-origin wounds. Together, we create a space where you can slow down, make sense of your experiences, and begin to feel more grounded. Special areas of focus include anxiety and stress, grief and loss, relationship and intimacy concerns, and family-of-origin trauma. I work with high-achieving adults who hold themselves to high standards and want to find a way to live with more balance, compassion, and freedom.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
