"To get thru the hardest journey, we need take only one step at a time, but we must keep on stepping" As your counselor my aim is to provide a safe and supportive environment where we can collaborate and work together at your own pace to help you reach your goals. Sometimes our past hurts and thoughts come with us like a friend we've told to "get lost", however everywhere we look it's there. If the past continues to be in your present I can help. If you have difficulty expressing your thoughts and emotions, I can help. If you're stuck, I can help. All it takes is one phone call.

As a counselor, I am awed by the amount of loss and trauma that clients are carrying, yet still manage to function in everyday life. The problem is, all that effort gets tiring. Sometimes the coping mechanisms we choose, leave us isolated or more troubled. Anxiety, depression, and OCD are common struggles which strain individuals, marriages, and the family. If you are seeking healthy relationships and stability in your life, counseling in person or online can help you.

Our ideal clients are adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and life transitions who are ready to better understand themselves and develop healthier ways of coping. Many come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns they want to change. They are seeking a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they can talk openly, gain insight, and learn practical strategies to manage stress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships. Ultimately, they want clarity, stability, and tools that help them move forward with greater confidence and self-understanding.

I believe the role of a therapist is to offer unconditional acceptance and walk alongside each client as they work through their issues. There are many different tools to help each client achieve their goals. Setting up a treatment plan with attainable goals with clear direction is essential in the counseling process. Each client comes with their own belief system. I am committed to helping clients find the inner peace that comes through relationships with people and a higher power. I am trained in biblical principles and a Christian, but I am committed to helping each person find their own path and their own beliefs.

I am rooted with the waves of cognitive-behavioral approaches, such as cognitive processing, skills from dialectical behavioral approach, and pull from acceptance and commitment techniques.
My name is Lindsey, and I empathize for today's autistic teens & adults struggling in this changing world. We're faced with immediate decision-making & strain, which is not fair when we're trying to figure who we are, much less what we want to become. We typically feel lost, confused, and misunderstood when communicating to others our needs and even interests, therefore struggle asking for help and support in and outside our homes, schools, and community. Whereas this seems to be a "young person's issue," many autistic adults battle these situations as well, struggling with embracing autism as a culture.

My idea as a psychotherapist is to provide safe, comfortable & judgment-free environment for clients to work through issues. My role as a psychotherapist is to respect the goals that my clients come in with, and support the process of working toward these goals. I believe Psychotherapy can enhance one's self-awareness and the ability to recognize in one's own self-defeating and self-sabotaging patterns, and to change these patterns.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
