My specialties include parenting skills for children of all ages, working with parents of trans youth, anxiety management, healthy relationships, and ADHD and/or diabetes lifestyle adjustment.
Imagine being able to talk to someone about anything without judgement or being told what to do. Visualize that person being a neutral sounding board where you can untangle your thoughts and feelings through difficult and stressful times. Having professional therapeutic support when dealing with anxiety and depression can make such a difference from feeling hopeless and defeated. Working with a professional such as myself can be a rewarding and empowering experience.

My qualifications include LCMHC, LCASA, Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) Teen provider, & a certified Erotic Blueprints Coach (think the 5 Love Languages meets intimacy).
Choosing a therapist is like embarking on a journey to a faraway destination. There are many routes you can take; some may be fast, others may be slow, other routes can show you things you never dreamed possible and some routes are routine. Taking the wrong route can be disappointing whereas the correct route can be life changing. I encourage you to find a therapist who fits your style, someone who will ride along and explore with you, and someone who you enjoy being with through the trials and tribulations, as well as the happiness and joy, of your unique journey. I hope I fit the role of your navigator in this journey we call life

I view counseling as an opportunity for self-exploration, growth, and healing. My top priority is to build a trusting relationship while creating a space where clients feel safe, respected and heard. I use an integrative approach, drawing predominately from Person-Centered modalities and techniques while utilizing Trauma Invested/Informed Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Child Parent Relationship Training (CPRT). I truly believe that every client is unique, varying in strengths, struggles, and personalities. Therefore, I tailor each treatment plan to meet each client where they are, in the present moment.

As a Christian counselor, I am drawn to help people who hurt find HOPE. Is your marriage struggling? Have you lost yourself in the throes of depression? Do you suffer from PTSD? Are you plagued by anxiety? My role is to help you shift your focus to see yourself through God's eyes. I weave together scripture, prayer, and a blend of psychological techniques to establish goals and to provide solutions for success. God doesn't want us to live a life of misery, but one of JOY. I look forward to supporting you on your journey towards healing.

I believe that therapy is for everyone! So often we minimize our struggles by comparing them to those faced by others when we all deserve the opportunity to work through our challenges so we can live the best version of our own lives. I work hard to provide a safe, judgement free atmosphere that promotes healing and personal growth. Life is unpredictable and having someone to help us rise though the hard parts can make all the difference in achieving the wellness we desire.

In some ways I've been where you are--going through a directory looking for support and not being sure if the person on the other side is going to be able to help you. Maybe you're very clear about what you want to work on, maybe you're just not feeling like your best self and don't even know why. I've been on both sides of the helping relationship for a long time and I believe our lived experience, from our race/gender/sexual orientation to our birth order to even our line of work impacts us in ongoing, evolving ways. I'm someone who can give you honest feedback, challenge you, & hold space for your emotions with empathy.

Many of our clients look good on the outside, yet feel mildly miserable on the inside. Pain is motivating and when clients are hurting, they call to schedule an appointment. It takes more than intellect to change behavior. Most of our clients are intelligent and know what they "should" do, yet struggle to take action. Our team works with people (or partners) who struggle with substances and behavioral medicators such as alcohol, porn, overeating and codependency. We treat individuals, couples and families that need help with addiction, mental illness, infidelity or simply feeling stuck. It is a relief to not have to do it alone.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
