Women's Issues Therapists in McLeansville, NC
Some seasons of life change everything — your routines, your identity, and the way you see yourself. You may be so focused on caring for others that your own needs have been pushed aside. You may be holding it together for the people you love while quietly carrying grief, stress, or exhaustion. Or maybe, from the outside, it looks like you're managing jut fine- but inside, you feel overwhelmed by the weight of daily life. Therapy can be a space to pause, process, and find steadiness in the midst these seasons.

Whether this is your first time looking for a therapist or a "last ditch effort" to get help, I believe I can support you. When you are working with me, and yes, therapy is work, it is my hope that you will feel warmth, genuineness, and judgment-free compassion from me. Just the concept of finally feeling heard can be quite powerful in itself. I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches but I do not believe in a cookie-cutter approach to clients, and will tailor my interventions to your needs. While techniques and interventions are important, the rapport and relationship between therapist and client is what is most powerful.

Have you reached a place where the expectations placed on you feel constant, unspoken, and impossible to meet? You may find yourself responsible for managing everyone else’s needs while your own are minimized, delayed, or ignored, leaving you unsure where your role ends and others’ demands begin. When boundaries are unclear, repeatedly crossed, or never respected, exhaustion, resentment, and emotional disconnection can take hold. Many adults are conditioned to tolerate this imbalance quietly, carrying heavy relational and emotional weight without permission to rest, push back, or choose themselves.

You don’t need more coping skills; you need a deeper shift.
I'm passionate about working with high-functioning women, especially Black women and our allies who are survivors of sexual trauma, domestic violence, as well as those seeking to cope with anxiety, depression, and everyday life challenges (the women who look like they have it all together on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in the same relationship patterns underneath). Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, or repeating cycles in love, therapy with me goes beyond surface-level conversations.

Shoutout to YOU! Just being here means you're taking a step toward growth for yourself or someone who matters to you. Admitting you need support isn’t easy, especially when everyone thinks you have it altogether, but let’s be real: we all need it sometimes. Whether you’re transitioning to a new phase in your life, trying to figure out what's next, or who you truly are, those feelings of anxiety, confusion, or sadness are valid. You might not have all the answers right now, but that’s where therapy comes in helping you find clarity, coping skills, and the ability to truly thrive and not just survive.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
