I use a verity of modalities in my practice including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Solution Focused and Trauma Focused interventions.
Looking for clarity, struggling with substance use, fighting with depression and anxiety, or any other mental health issues. I can assist. I help my clients in navigating the stressors of their individual lives. I identify the different values and ideologies of all my clients. Together we map a situation and figure out a solution that is in line with their personal desires so they are able to reach goals set. The three theories I use most in my practice are humanistic/self-determination, behaviorism and psychodynamic theory. With humanistic/self-determination theory I can ensure I help my clients achieve their highest potential.

I specialize in anxiety, panic disorders, phobias, perinatal mood and anxiety, trauma , depression, and life adjustments.
The prospect of starting counseling can be scary. The worries of what other people may think, the stigma of counseling, and the thought of "am I weak'. I have been in this field for over 20 years, in a variety of setting and I heard from many who shared their hesitation for reaching out. It takes courage to ask for help! I am here to guide you through counseling. I offer education, support, and evidence-based treatments to 'normalize' how you may feel because at moments you may feel alone. Through education on how the brain is functioning, CBT, Mindfulness, and EMDR, we work together to accomplish the goals that you set for yourself

My Master in Clinical Psychology came with a program highly focused on being culturally sensitive domestically and internationally and looking at how to treat trauma of all kinds.
Asking for help is hard and can be very scary, the fear of judgement, the fear of weakness, the fear of "going crazy". Yet I believe reaching out for help is one of the bravest things anyone can do. I have a passion for working with individuals with trauma . I also have a passion for working with children. It is never too late to start feeling better about being yourself, whether the work starts in childhood or later in life. I want to help people find peace in themselves whether through change or through acceptance.

"We have more help than you have problems." I have been walking with people in their life stories for many years. Counseling is an important investment of a person's time and money. I listen actively and work hard for my clients in their sessions to help them experience the life change and healing they are looking for. Most of my therapy work is done in 3 day Counseling Intensives for individuals and couples. My Intensive fee is $7500 for 3 days.

I have specific training in reproductive mental health, parenthood, couple's counseling, and trauma therapy (including EMDR).
Life can be overwhelming sometimes. Relational concerns, unexpected challenges, new or old traumas, and life transitions can all lead to mental health needs. Often we default to pushing through or feeling like we should be able to tackle these things alone, but nothing could be further from the truth. With support from a knowledgable and caring professional who uses evidence-based approaches, you can start the work of feeling like yourself again, or perhaps feeling better than you've ever felt before.

This is a safe place, where the trauma , anxiety, depression and inability to cope can be worked on, allowing you to make changes for a better future.
Perfection and anxiety can make you feel overwhelmed and out of control. The anxious feeling can make you feel constantly scattered, not having a relaxing moment. Your brain is always on go. The desire to be perfect is a struggle to reach, and not obtainable. Therapy can help your brain slow down, calm down, and stop having a escalating desire to panic. You can turn your life around and enjoy it the way you want.

So many people suffer needlessly because of childhood or other trauma , dysfunctional family and personal relationships, or negative coping skills. I know how hard life can be and I can help you identify areas you’d like to improve, making your life happier and more calm using research-proven psychological techniques and treatments, including EMDR. Mental health improvements impact every area of life, providing healthy coping and problem-solving. Everyone wants to feel their best but so often we overlook our internal life, focusing instead on appearance or fitness, which are also important. Psychotherapy is an investment in yourself.

I have been practicing counseling since 1993. I specialize in working with special needs children and their families, though I work with adults as well and the following issues: LD/ADHD, ASD (high functioning), anxiety, depression, grief, suicide loss, divorce/blended families/co-parenting (not high conflict), women's issues, and trauma . I have worked in a variety of settings with children/adolescents/families, including schools, group homes, a secure residential facility and private practice. As a Mom of two children with LD/ADHD, I bring a unique perspective and an uncommon understanding to my work with this population.

Some of my specialties include trauma , codependency, identity, relationships, addiction, anxiety, and depression.
It’s okay to ask for what you need. This is something I need to remind myself of on a daily basis. So many of us focus intently on making sure everyone else is taken care of and we completely abandon ourselves and ignore our own needs. This leaves us feeling exhausted, depleted, and quite frankly, resentful because we think to ourselves “why isn’t anyone taking care of me?” I teach my clients what a healthy relationship looks like because if this wasn’t modeled to you at some point throughout your life, no one can expect you to know what it means.

My practice is focused on treating sexual brokenness and addiction, trauma (relational, single event, PTSD ) and marital issues, including infidelity. Many times, these three treatment areas are linked together and experience in all three leads to more comprehensive therapy. I have also worked with clients with many different presenting issues over 19 years of private practice. I believe this experience helps me address the varied needs that my clients present.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
