My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. I specialize in wholistic trauma therapy for adults who want to understand and resolve the ways their past is affecting their current relationships, jobs, and life roles. On the surface, you might be holding it all together. And at the heart of it, you're stuck - not feeling like your true self. Anger, depression, anxiety, difficulty focusing, overwhelm, and/or drugs or alcohol abuse might be more a part of your life than you’d like. This is not how you imagined it. You want, you NEED, to find your way back again.

I believe therapists are only wounded survivors with education and training, who seek to help their fellow person face life's difficulties. Just like you, I have faced hardship and continue to work every day towards a better self. I aim to provide my clients with an experience that puts them in a position to succeed. My space is a judgment-free zone, with work taken at your own pace. I don’t have the magic solution to solve your problems, but I am well-equipped to help you find those answers within yourself. I encourage you to take a leap of faith for yourself.

Feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like your mind is racing? Fear ever grip your chest or gut? Your mind keeps looping on the same fears, thoughts, or upsetting memories. You can’t get a good nights sleep, and you feel irritable, on-edge, or not-in-control. That critical voice in your head won’t shut up and often brings its friends – worry, panic, anger, guilt, and shame. Life doesn’t look or feel the way you want it to. You wonder ‘What the hell is wrong with me? How do I fix this?’ You just want a way to quiet the chaos, move past painful experiences, and get back to the things that are important to you in life. I can help with this.

There are times in our life when we realize that we can't keep doing it alone and we need to reach out for help. Sometimes people we love hurt us. Intentionally, or unintentionally, we hurt them. We let each other down. Our children who are meant to be our greatest joy sometimes are a source of unimagined worry or pain. At times it feels that our life has not turned out how we believed it should have. This realization can feel lonely, be confusing and cause us tremendous pain. Having a safe person and a healthy, trusting relationship with an experienced therapist can help.

Serving TN, NC, and GA. You've been in a cycle of toxic relationships that make you feel crazy and not good enough. You wonder, "am I the narcissist?" Maybe you've tried to set boundaries with a parent, but still feel misunderstood, criticized, or invalidated. You believe your childhood was difficult but then rationalize that it "wasn't that bad." You won't call it trauma or abuse but then what was it?

Family can be a source of joy and strength but can also be chaotic and overwhelming at times. I know that life transitions and big events can be challenging for individuals and that sometimes having an outside resource to talk to can be helpful. If you are struggling to start a family, dealing with pregnancy/postpartum related mental health concerns, pursuing kinship care/foster care/adoption, or working to overcome a traumatic experience, I would love to connect and see if I can assist you in reaching your goals.

Grief isn’t just overwhelming—it changes us. And it doesn’t only follow death. Loss from trauma, life transitions like divorce or separation, roles, identity shifts, or spiritual disruption can leave you feeling disoriented and questioning who you are and what you believe. Many seek spiritually-integrated counseling—a space for both emotional and spiritual healing. Together, we’ll tend to what brought you here, as well as how you are transforming because of it. Even when your old maps (beliefs, familiar ways of being, etc.) for navigating life no longer work, your pain can be a doorway to meaning, purpose, and your True Self.

Welcome! I am a board certified LCSW with over 15 years of practice experience with military personnel and their families. I retired from the U.S. Army in 2022 and my first experience with behavioral health was as a client following my first combat deployment. Therapy gave me an opportunity to heal in a non-judgmental environment and helped me return mentally and emotionally. Needless to say, I became a convert to the process and aim to help others find that safe environment to sort their stuff out.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Marvin?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
