I specialize in trauma, depression, and anxiety disorders in adolescents and adults.
Accepting new clients! My primary therapeutic approach is Person-Centered, which is based on the notion that clients have a capacity for self-awareness. I believe that clients are capable of healing themselves, can create their own self-growth, & are their own change agents. I consider counseling to be a collaborative process with both the counselor and client. I align with taking an integrative approach because I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach. In addition to person-centered, I utilize techniques from CBT. Every client has a different narrative and, therefore, should have a unique approach to each scenario.

I work with individuals that have a history of addiction, trauma, addictions (substance and behavioral), history of abuse, and a number of other unresolved issues.
Are you feeling like you are overwhelmed? Do you feel like there is a number of unresolved issues in your life? Do you have a history of trauma that you feel is affecting your life today? Have you noticed that you are withdrawing from others and maybe even isolating yourself? Do you lack the tools to live in society? Is there a lack of supportive people in your life? Do you have a substance issue? Are you self-medicating? Do you find that it is hard to express yourself in social settings? Has someone told you that you have "anger mgmt. issues?" Do you lack healthy coping skills and outlets? Are you constantly negative?

The last few years have been tough. Tougher than we ever thought possible. This has caused chaos, stressful home life, and violence to increase in our communities. If you have been effected recently by these things, I want you to know, you are not alone. You do not need to struggle any longer. As a person who is pro LGBTQ/ BLM/ sex/ body positive, you can feel safe talking through any problem, trauma, and event you need to. With a heart for both the victims and the abusers, you will find I will work hard to ensure you are able to find a positive, hope filled life. Whether you are 5 or 65, you can find a new path of joy.

My practice brings together knowledge in the areas of integrative mental health, trauma-focused care, and cultural responsiveness to support individuals and couples to create a sense of calm, confidence, and connection within themselves and their families.
Overall, I consider therapy to be a beginning point for personal change. My counseling philosophy is built around the principle that understanding a patient in the context of the surroundings that influenced their development is elemental to the therapeutic process. I utilize an integrative approach, combining Cognitive, Interpersonal, and Psychoanalytic techniques. My ultimate goal is to support my patients in achieving a higher degree of contentment and satisfaction as they work towards their desired therapeutic goals.

Given the nature of our work we understand how it feels to neglect our own emotional wellness needs drenched in stress, burnout and trauma; feeling incomplete, defeated, unworthy or unseen simultaneously dealing with intense situations all for the sake of others.
Hello there! Does life constantly point you in various directions and you are frequently uncertain of which way to go? Does everyone including yourself expect you to be clear and strong? Is always the appearance of having everything in the right place and without fail essential to your position in life? As healthcare professionals, we carry a specific set of issues secondary to the not so good things that have happened to us. It’s ok that these issues manifest themselves in trauma, moodiness, emotional turmoil and the inability to create stable relationships free of relentless conflict. No worries though, I've got you!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
