Trauma informed and EMDR trained therapist that is trying to make bad shit less bad for you.
You good? I ask because I can see that there's a pain in your eyes that you're trying so hard to disguise like everything is okay. I'm asking because I'm genuinely concerned about how you're doing. I know that we often think that people don't care about how we are but me, I do care. So, tell me, are you good? You don't have to hold onto all of that hurt, that anger, that anxiety, that stress, that pressure. You don't have to be the hero. You don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders just so you can be criticized for not carrying a bigger boulder.

I have specialized training with treating children and teens who have experienced major stressors and trauma.
Hello! I strive to create a warm and accepting atmosphere for kids and teens to grow. I began providing animal-assisted therapy in 2020 and found it added an extra layer of comfort, humor, and playfulness that enhances the sometimes challenging work of therapy. My hope is to make therapy fun and enlightening. Children and teens have many stressors that include rigorous school testing, challenging social dynamics, and perfectionism. This can lead to negative self-talk and self-doubt.

Trauma—whether from a major life transition, a betrayal, or past abuse—has a way of keeping you stuck in a loop of isolation.
I specialize in helping you process the "stuck" memories that talk therapy can’t always reach. As an EMDRIA-trained EMDR therapist, I provide a trauma-informed, person-centered space where your complexity is honored. We’ll use EMDR to help your brain’s natural healing process, reducing the intensity of triggers and the weight of the past.

Life is too short to surrender to bad relationships, hold grudges, let trauma control us, or be anxious/angry all the time.
Life can be painful. Therapy doesn’t have to be. Many people see therapy as one-sided, with little opportunity for interaction or getting to experience each other as real people. I can promise you that I am as real as it gets! I want to help you achieve the solutions and life changes you are looking for while enjoying the process as much as possible. Calling therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help.

Good psychotherapy requires a "match" between client(s) and therapist and avoids "stretching the client to fit the couch." Finding the right psychotherapist involves both clinical skill and personality match. A good therapist is genuine, warm, and offers a human relationship with active listening, guidance, and good advice. As a Marriage & Family Therapist, what I offer as a clinician is an active style of psychotherapy with a high regard for where you are in your journey, what your goals are, and what things can be pointed out and changed along the path to growth and improved relationships.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
