I provide services to individuals dealing with depression, anxiety , mood disorders, and PTSD. With this, I acknowledge each person's needs and am able to modify approaches to assist them in meeting their goals. These goals can be modest in approach from the beginning and once someone is ready, we can dig in deeper to the healing process or if someone prefers, we can take an assertive and swift approach to addressing goals. Treatment may vary as I am eclectic in approach. With this approach, my clients will have the opportunity to work with therapy animals, have nature based experiences, integrate art or relax indoors.

I have over 23 years clinical experience working with adolescents & adults that are struggling with sadness, anxiety , depression and grief/loss.
My ideal client is someone who has an idea of where they want to be but needs a little help to get there. I believe that the therapeutic journey is about understanding a person's life experience in order to help them reach their full potential. Developing a trusting relationship is a very important aspect in creating change. And whether these changes are small or large in scale, they can have a profound impact on someone's life. I like to be able to support and guide clients as they work on those changes.

Need some extra support through a challenging situation? I'd love to help. I work to build a strong relationship with each client; one that promotes trust, awareness and understanding. This approach provides you the freedom to tell your story, without expectations or judgments, while I share my thoughts and observations as food for thought

I have experience working with adults with depression, anxiety , stress, relationship problems, substance dependence and more, as well as offer religious counseling.
Regardless of age, race, gender, economic status, religious affiliation, etc., life presents challenges and we can find ourselves in low places we never anticipated. In those seasons, it is imperative to have a safe space where you can be heard, validated and supported. In therapy, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic and Solution-Focused approaches; however, I recognize and respect that all clients are different and may require a different approach, so I adjust as necessary. I look forward to helping you work through the situations in which you might find yourself and assist you in becoming your ideal self!

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
