You didn't expect life to look this way. Are you paralyzed by anxiety? Overwhelmed with the state of the world and our country? Feeling disconnected from others? Feeling unseen and unheard? Are you struggling to meet the high expectations of yourself and the expectations of what the modern woman is? Have you found yourself thinking; these are supposed to be the happiest days of my life, why am I not happy? Am I a good Mom? Am I being too controlling? Everyone else seems to be able to do it all. Why can't I? Am I making the "right" decisions with my children? Life does not have to stay this way.

Everyone thinks you have it together. People would never guess how much you're struggling, or how your brain NEVER shuts off. You're replaying conversations, overthinking everything, carrying everyone else's emotional baggage, and wondering why you can't seem to relax. You're exhausted, but slowing down somehow feels harder than keeping busy. You learned how to survive long before you knew how to rest. If you're reading this and feel like this is you... you're in the right place.

I believe that every person has the ability to grow, heal and change. As a counselor, I provide a space of nonjudgmental acceptance and authenticity which invites clients to show up exactly as they are and to be valued and supported in all aspects of their identity. I aim to partner with and empower my clients, utilizing the strengths and skills they already possess, to work toward their goals for healing and growth. My counseling orientation is grounded in a family systems approach, though I also draw significantly from attachment theory and person-centered counseling.

With a passion in neurobehavioral science, I apply my biology training to investigate why we think, feel, and behave the way we do. In our sessions, you can expect to be met with deep compassion and unconditional positive regard. As a translational clinician, I bridge the gap between brain science and real-world healing, helping you understand your patterns and effectively guiding you toward your goals.

Many of my clients have spent years managing anxiety or relationship stress — only to find themselves still stuck in patterns they can't quite explain. What we often discover underneath is trauma they didn't realize was there. Not necessarily one big event, but relational wounds from earlier experiences that kept shaping how they see themselves and connect with others. If you've tried the coping skills and still don't feel like yourself, that's exactly where I do my best work. I work with adults and teens — in person in Asheville and virtually across NC.

I often use Behavioral Therapy (CBT, DBT or ACT) in my practice, along with a holistic and somatic (mind-body) approach.
Life transitions, internal overwhelm, and ongoing stress can make even capable, high-functioning people feel stuck, anxious, or disconnected from themselves. You may be managing responsibilities well on the outside while internally feeling scattered, tense, or uncertain about your direction. I work with young adults and middle-aged folks who are navigating change and want support that addresses both emotional patterns and the nervous system, not just symptoms.

Do you feel responsible for taking care of everyone else, but have little time or energy left to care for yourself? Is it hard to even identify what you need, much less ask for it? Did you grow up in chaos and now have some healing to do? Do you struggle with perfectionism, anxiety, control, or taking on too much? You are not alone and you don't have to deal with it alone. I specialize in helping teens and adults who struggle with setting boundaries, speaking up, coping with anxiety/panic, nightmares, dissociation, angry outbursts, and the need to always feel in control.

I work from an eclectic mix of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EFT, and Client-Centered Therapy.
Sometimes life looks different than we thought it would. Sometimes it can look exactly as we want it, and then things go sideways, and everything changes. Maybe you are experiencing troubling thoughts or feelings of hopelessness. Perhaps you are having difficulties with setting boundaries or communication in relationships. Maybe you have experienced something that is leaving you with feelings that are too big and overwhelming not to share with someone else. I can help! I work with individuals ages 18+ and couples who wish to make changes in their lives.

Change can be overwhelming and it is often difficult to know where to start. My goal is to help clients recognize their potential and overcome obstacles that may be keeping them from moving forward in the direction they want to go. My primary focus is children, teens, and young adults (ages 4-22). I use techniques of talk, play, and art therapy to engage young clients and work through issues related to childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. I also work with parents to develop parenting strategies and to help their child continue to use skills learned in therapy when they are at home.

My "ideal" client is someone who has made the choice to start, restart, or continue their therapeutic journey. This is someone who is open to being vulnerable in the interest of personal growth. This client attends regular sessions as well as utilizes tools outside of our sessions to maximize growth potential. The "why" is not a requirement to start, but being open to learning more about yourself is. My sessions provide a space free from judgement where you can be your authentic self.

You’ve spent years pushing through, holding it together, and trying to meet expectations that never seemed made for you. You’ve gotten good at masking – showing up, performing, and keeping it all together on the outside all while feeling overstimulated, disconnected, or utterly drained on the inside. Maybe you’ve only recently learned that you’re neurodivergent, and suddenly, so much of your past makes sense. It’s like you never got the life manual everyone else got. Still, you’re unsure how to unlearn habits that kept you safe but now leave you burned out and isolated. You’re ready to understand yourself beyond just surviving.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
