You’re the one who holds it together for everyone else, but inside you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally tired. You overthink, replay conversations, and wonder why life still feels heavy even when you’re doing your best. Relationships feel confusing, boundaries feel hard, and past experiences still show up in ways you can’t ignore. You want peace, clarity, and confidence, not just coping. Therapy can be a place to slow down, feel understood, and reconnect with yourself so you can move forward with intention instead of exhaustion.

I wholeheartedly believe in the resilience of the human spirit and that each of us are imbued with the desire to achieve, to connect and have peace. Change is usually associated with stress and we are not fond of it; we find comfort in our routine even when that routine is allowing us to feel overwhelmed, underappreciated and at its worst, neglected or abused. Change is what inspires and produces growth. Without growth, we whither and shrink away becoming someone whom we barely recognize. We are life forces and energy that need growth in order to realize our fullest potential

Since 1992, I have had the honor of accompanying countless individuals in their journey towards living more authentic and satisfying lives. I am convinced that everyone possesses the ability to live their life to its fullest potential. As your counselor, my role is to help awaken you to this dormant power within. I believe that we all function based on the beliefs instilled in us at an early age and are reinforced in various ways throughout our lives. It is when we begin to challenge these "truths" that we experience a great awakening and discover our true self.

It is anxiety-provoking to put ourselves in a position of vulnerability and open up about our struggles. I believe taking this risk can be well worth it if you connect with the right person. As a therapist I am someone who will listen to you with respect and provide validation of your emotional experiences. I will also encourage you to consider alternative ways of interpreting your experiences. I am someone who has had her own challenges with anxiety and depression and grew up in a family with their own mental health issues.

Knowing where to begin when seeking help with our personal struggles is, for most, a challenge in itself. Finding comfort in the familiarity of solitude and unhealthy means of managing our struggles is what we become accustomed to and feel a sense of security. Change and the uncertainty that creates, is where belief comes into play. The belief that life can be different, and that we ourselves are capable of taking the steps to change. I believe in individuals being their own greatest advocate and strive to create a safe space for them to navigate the challenges that have clouded their path.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
