Therapy is a growth experience that can influence the way you view the world and yourself. As humans, we all experience times of discomfort and life transitions. Therapy is not only for those suffering from addiction or mental illness. It is also a way to gain skills, enhance your performance, and learn more about yourself. Barriers to becoming who you want to be can be explored in therapy and work to re-building life, relationships, and even your career.

I integrate EMDR and DBT and improve communication and connection.
You may feel like your emotions are intense, unpredictable, or overwhelming at times—like things shift quickly and you’re left trying to make sense of it all. Maybe your relationships feel complicated, reactions feel bigger than you want them to be, or you find yourself stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and you’re not “too much.”
I specialize in working with individuals who experience strong emotional reactions, sensitivity to triggers, and difficulty regulating mood or responses. The good news is—these patterns make sense, and are changed with the right support.

Modern evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, etc) and traditional approaches such as Psychodynamic therapy and Logotherapy (finding meaning).
I'm the kind of therapist who calls your doctor with your permission because your care team should actually be a team. Who researches new options between sessions because your situation deserves more than a one-size-fits-all plan. I work with teens, adults, and seniors facing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, faith questions, or the weight of living between two cultures. I speak English, Portuguese, and Spanish. What makes my practice different: coordinated care, real advocacy, and a free 15-minute consultation so we can see if we're a good fit. No pressure. "Your freedom to choose how you respond is always yours." Viktor Frankl

I work with ages 5 and up, and I enjoy working with various ages throughout the day. Younger clients tend to need a more play-based approach, while older clients tend to prefer having a safe space to talk. I especially love working with teenagers dealing with depression and anxiety with the goals of improving their overall mindsets. Many clients just need someone to hear them, and my goal is to make you feel as heard and comfortable as possible.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
