If you woke up tomorrow and it was YOUR perfect life, what would it look like? As you're imagining this, what are the differences between this imagined life and the one you're currently living? You may feel stuck, unfulfilled, or alone even, with lingering questions that may leave you feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and lost. Life has an interesting way of putting us in places and spaces that both challenge and change us in ways unimaginable, seemingly out of our control. Let's move you from being a spectator to a participant in your life story by getting uncomfortable, facing fears, and taking space to grow and heal.

Life can feel overwhelming and confusing when we are faced with challenges that prevent us from experiencing and living as our authentic self. I believe positive, effective change can happen once we become more confident and empowered to express ourselves. I empower individuals to feel confident to make effective change within their life in order meet their personal and therapeutic goals. I primarily work individuals with disrupted attachments, and sexual trauma; in addition to PTSD, depression, anxiety, OCD (specifically Relationships, Perfectionism, Contamination, and Health); and Excoriation (skin picking).

No matter how much you do, it feels like you're never "good enough." Right now, everything feels like too much: school, work, never ending to-do lists. When you try to rest, all you can think is "I should be doing more." Your thoughts are constantly focused on food, your body, or what you “should” be doing. You put pressure on yourself to “do it all”, and when you can’t meet your own high expectations, the anxiety and self-doubt take over. Lately, it feels like your worth is tied to how much you accomplish or how you look, and it’s exhausting.

Do you feel like nothing you do is ever enough? I’m glad you’re here. Our darkest or most hectic times are often when we feel the most isolated and unheard. You might be feeling exhausted, defeated, or overwhelmed. Therapy can help you find the light you need, and help you reconnect to the world and yourself. I believe that you already have the strength & resilience within you to heal and grow, sometimes we all just need some help. Above all else, I want you to know that it’s okay not to be okay & that it’s possible for things to get better. Pause, and give yourself credit for taking a step toward bettering your mental health today.

My clients come to me feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or not good enough beneath the surface, even though they appear capable and high-functioning. They often struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, relationship stress, or major life transitions. They want to understand why they react the way they do and learn tools to respond differently. Ultimately, they want to feel confident, grounded, and secure in themselves and their relationships. I offer tools from IFS, DBT, and DBT modalities to help my clients with all of these concerns.

Maybe you’ve been struggling to hold it all together, whether it’s been for the last few weeks, months, or years. You’ve been juggling so many different roles & responsibilities that you’ve forgotten what it’s like to rest & you’ve forgotten who you truly are. Or maybe you’re a parent - watching your child trying to keep their head above water - but they seem to be weighed down by difficulties with school, friends, self-esteem, or communication, & you don’t know how to help them. Maybe all that’s needed is a compassionate listener. Or maybe what’s needed is a different perspective & some accountability. Either way, I can help.

You’ve held it together for a long time, but something isn’t working anymore. Relationships feel harder than they should. You replay conversations, shut down when things get too close, or react in ways that don’t make sense. On the outside, you seem fine. On the inside, it’s a different story. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable adults who learned early on to adapt. Keep the peace. Don’t be too much. Take care of others. Those patterns helped you get through something. Now they can show up as self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, difficulty trusting, or not feeling like yourself anymore.

Secular and Non-Religious Therapists
What is a secular and non religious approach in therapy?
Secular or non-religious therapy is a theoretical orientation used by many therapists and describes a therapeutic approach that does not rely on any specific religious or faith-based beliefs in the therapeutic process. Secular counselors will often approach therapy with an emphasis on evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients, instead of relying on religious practices, such as prayer or belief in God.

Is secular therapy primarily for non-religious people?
Both religious and non-religious individuals can benefit from secular therapy. People exploring their religious or spiritual beliefs may find it especially useful to work with a secular therapist who is unbiased toward any specific religion. While religious individuals might value the connection and familiarity of seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs, secular counseling can offer them the chance to develop coping skills independent of their religious practice, which can be beneficial in various aspects of their lives.

Can a secular approach to therapy help with religious trauma?
One major reason clients may seek a secular therapist is to process previous religious experiences, including religious trauma. Secular therapists can help clients manage symptoms of the trauma through practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They can also encourage clients through talk therapy or psychodynamic approaches to explore the roots of their religious trauma. Since secular therapists do not have any predetermined religious beliefs, they can be particularly helpful for clients looking to explore their own religious beliefs following a history of religious trauma.

What does non religious marriage and premarital counseling involve?
Marriage and premarital counseling typically involves a couple meeting with a therapist to discuss topics such as planning for marriage, navigating a new marriage, addressing relationship challenges, and developing better communication and conflict resolution skills. Non-religious therapists assist couples in achieving these goals without adhering to specific religious beliefs or frameworks, often emphasizing inclusivity and non-judgment, especially for "nontraditional" couples. However, seeking couples therapy from a non-religious counselor does not mean religious topics are off-limits. In fact, non-religious couples from different religious backgrounds may benefit from a secular therapist who remains neutral toward the beliefs of each partner.
