As a licensed professional counselor for over a decade, I consider it an honor to create a sacred space with a client in the therapeutic relationship. As clients are able to unravel developmental traumas, process relational difficulties, and dispel long-held cognitive beliefs, true healing emerges within. Over the years, I have found that I am most helpful in the treatment of trauma, building healthy attachments between people, and using a number of well-researched methods for more complex issues related to emotional development.

If you’re reading this then you have decided that it’s time to get reconnected with yourself, your partner, or even your friends. Dating may be a struggle, you may be having trouble finding direction with your partner, or you may even be holding yourself back from opportunities that you feel you're not good enough for. There's one thing that is often the common denominator: relational trauma. When you’re hurt by the people that you love, it breaks and it builds.

Do your emotions feel overwhelming? Worry that you will never be able to handle them? Ever notice that you have trouble being in your body because it is so uncomfortable? Having trouble showing up for yourself when you really need to? Are your closest relationships frustrating? Struggling to feel like yourself around others? Feeling anxious, not fully knowing why? Maybe your thoughts are constantly pulled away from the present and you have trouble concentrating? Yeses to a few of these questions, could be related to complex trauma (repeated exposure to highly stressful events), and relief and progress can come from working together.

I occasionally use EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), or meditation.
At my office, I hope to ensure that all feel welcome. I want my clients to know that I hear you and I see you; your pain matters. Brutality at the hands of others is hard to process, but I hope we can go on that journey together. I specialize in trauma recovery, but also treat a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and more severe disorders. I work with my client to find what therapy methods work best for her/him/them, as we are all different individuals with different needs.

Through research-proven methods like ( EMDR, Brainspotting and DBT) and honest conversations, we will work together to find a way forward toward rest.
Maybe you feel like taking any step is daunting. Relationships loom over your head and the world seems to be spinning around you. The pain of life seems too big to even approach and nothing you do seems to make lasting change. Unwanted compulsive behavior or unbreakable beliefs about yourself dominates your life. You want to live with hope and purpose.

I am trained in EMDR and Brainspotting, however I have found that Brainspotting works better for virtual visits.
You're a guy who thinks a lot. You feel things deeply—even if you don’t always show it. And maybe you’ve been trying to carry it all without much support. Whether it’s anxiety, self-doubt, relationship struggles, intimacy stuff that’s hard to talk about, or just feeling stuck—you’re ready to talk to someone who gets it. You’re not looking for surface-level advice. You want someone who can help you figure out what’s actually going on—and what to do about it. That’s where I come in.

EMDR and Mindful Self-Compassion along with an eclectic array of therapeutic skills help my clients learn to show up for themselves.
Somewhere along the way you started feeling like a zombie. You are physically and emotionally exhausted. You're feeling burned out, overwhelmed, disconnected and on edge. Hopelessness is sinking in or has already sunken in. You're calling out to work or skipping classes. You are terrified that you can't handle life's demands or the needs of those who count on you. Your family and relationships are suffering. The words "self-care" elicits both a laugh and a sinking feeling in your stomach, but also, you know that at some point something has to give. You are tired of feeling guilty for having your own needs. It is time.

I draw from a variety of techniques and theoretical approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, ERP, and interpersonal therapy.
You are overwhelmed. You don't know how to keep up with the demands of life. You wonder, "how'd I get here?" You are sick and tired of being sick and tired. You want to laugh again and enjoy life again. You need a restart, a refocus but don't know where to begin. My clients are compassionate, kind, and motivated to help everyone else in their lives but have lost touch with themselves. They have spent so long saying yes to everyone else the idea of saying no and possibly disappointing others is crippling. You can work on finding yourself again. You don't have to do it alone.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
