Evolve or repeat. Therapy, by nature, can be challenging. It can appear scary, overwhelming, and anxiety-inducing; you are essentially vocalizing (to a stranger!) your challenges, weaknesses, mistakes, and insecurities. And sometimes that needs to happen to grow. My mantra over the last year has been to evolve or repeat. That’s it. Evolve or repeat. Frequently we establish and maintain patterns of thoughts and behaviors, based on past experiences and memories which are unhealthy and unproductive. I found these patterns and cycles are the root to unhappiness and barriers to change.
As a therapist, I try to create a healthy, comfortable, and safe environment filled with humor (sometimes dark), sarcasm (usually dry), and compassion to support you with unhealthy thought patterns. Although, I incorporate research-based strategies, I think the most important component of all therapeutic services is the therapeutic relationship.
Over the last 13 years, I have provided individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults struggling with bereavement, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, transitioning, attachment, stress, loss, family conflict, divorce, codependency, and trauma.
