Thank you for taking the first step by shoring up the courage to find me here. “Smooth seas do not make for skillful sailors.” This African proverb so appropriately explains the therapeutic work we will do together. Metaphorically, as we identify the issues and curiosities you bring into counseling, we become the seas; as we work together to explore and notice the things surrounding us, we develop a therapeutic alliance; we then become the sailors. We navigate the waters using therapeutic tools; we practice in a safe space, and build capacity in you, the soon skillful sailor. Reach my website: www.counselingteaandtherapypllc.com

I specialize in processing grief, navigating seasons of loss, and reconnecting with your spiritual foundation when life feels unsteady.
My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck, often during a season of transition or personal growth. They may struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or setting healthy boundaries. They want a safe, nonjudgmental space to be heard and understood while gaining practical tools to manage emotions and stress. Many are seeking greater clarity, confidence, and alignment with their values, and some want faith to be thoughtfully integrated into their healing. Their goal is to feel more grounded, at peace, and empowered to move forward with intention and hope.

I have worked with children with issues such as; anxiety, depression, grief, self-regulation, and coping strategies.
Do you find yourself putting the needs of others before your own? Has life become so overwhelming because you are carrying your stuff and everyone else's? You don't have to tackle these issues alone. Allow me to help. I will walk alongside you and together we can figure it out. We all need help from time to time. This doesn’t make us weak, it makes us human. Sometimes a little help is needed to bring answers we already possess to the surface.

My eclectic approach includes psychodynamic, mindfulness based stressed reduction, cognitive behavior therapy, psychotherapy, spiritual integration through a somatic lens to address anxiety, mood regulation, developmental trauma, grief and life transitions.
There are times when life overwhelms us. We become anxious, depressed, scared or even angry. These feelings may hijack our best efforts to realize our potential. My goal as your therapist is to focus on your strengths and challenges, helping you let go of patterns that no longer work as you gain insight and move into new possibilities for your life. I adjust my approach to the client's presenting problem, strengths, and treatment goals. Although it has been said many times there is so much truth, "the first step is the most difficult, the journey can be well-worth the effort."

Are you feeling stuck in a relationship and are constantly having the same fights? Or maybe you’re single and find yourself falling into the same negative relationship patterns over and over again? Perhaps you feel like you never got the support you needed as a child and are not getting the support you need from the people around you today. Relationships can have a significant impact on your overall well-being. Sometimes the lack of balance in your relationships can cause you to feel alone, anxious, or angry. This can be very painful and make the rest of life feeling difficult too.

I recognize it can be hard to reach out for help as well as make the time and space for yourself during the everyday craziness of life. We often put everyone else ahead of our own needs and put ourselves last and our needs on hold. Time just seems to fly by and nothing changes. By the time we are looking for a therapist or reaching out for help, we are overwhelmed and need support now. You may feel exhausted and may not even know where to start to make things better.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
