My desire is to bring a holistic approach to mental/behavioral health as a clinician. I have a genuine desire, to share the evidence based tools and techniques, required for one to be successful in the process of healing. Our sessions can include sitting on the floor with many pillows, while meditating or talk therapy. Or sitting in a comfortable chair, while practicing EMDR or relaxation while in session. Rapport and comfort are extremely important. In order for therapist and client to work together as a successful team. The end goal is to feel better when you leave than you arrived. With tools you can use in your every day life.

You’re exhausted from trying desperately to balance your needs with the demands of kids, school, or work. As a parent you’re struggling to understand where your child is coming from. Does the “parent guilt” creep in while you’re trying to keep all the plates spinning? Maybe you have a child who is anxious, worried, has difficulty sleeping or going to school, or expects perfection. Learning how to manage your own needs and care for yourself, while you balance them with the demands of life is hard at any age. This can lead to anxiety, self-doubt, concern that one isn’t good enough, and become a negative self-talk loop in your head.

Perhaps you are wondering if counseling is right for you? If you are open to discovering the best possible version of yourself, then the answer is "Yes." Life is hard, and sometimes we need someone else in the boat to help, guide, and support us through the difficult times. I believe that you have all of the tools within you to heal yourself - it is simply my job to help you realize them. Many of the challenges we face can be linked to beliefs and patterns of behavior learned during our early years. Some patterns were required within our family systems, but no longer serve us in our present circumstances.

I see you. I get it. There is a point in life when we get tired of not thriving. Trauma. Overwhelming anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem are robbing you of the life that you see. You can see a better life for you in the distance but you have no idea how to get there. Striving for perfectionism, people pleasing, feeling like you are always the problem, that you are not enough. I was an educator for almost 20 years so I know the stressors that teachers experience. I have a special place in my heart for you. No one knows what teachers go through better than a teacher. (ps: I WILL respond to your call or email!)

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
