What so many of us are craving lately is peace. Our hearts, bodies and souls are carrying so much. We’re worried and weary. Maybe that’s what brought you here. You need help navigating uncertainty and change in your life--whether it's trauma , chronic illness, loss or anxiety. Sometimes we need someone to help guide us through these seasons of life and discover our inner wisdom to grow, heal and thrive again--not just survive. I’m here to help you find your way. To move through and heal from our pain, we need tools to feel grounded, to feel our feelings instead of run from them, and to develop a deeper relationship with ourselves.

I offer counseling services to individuals, children, and families who may be experiencing family conflict, behavioral issues, and trauma related issues.
Life can throw all forms of curveballs at us that we cannot control, where we sit and wonder what is going on. In life we get to a point where we stand up and say, I cannot do this alone. When we realize those challenges are too big to tackle alone, I am here to tell you it is okay to ask for help and know that there is support out there.

Specifically, depression, anxiety, trauma , OCD, addiction, life transitions, and family conflict.
Everyone is responsible for protecting and nurturing their mental health. Navigating through difficult life experiences can manifest stress, unhappiness, anxiety, anger, etc. Sometimes, we develop harmful ways to cope with these life experiences such as isolating ourselves, lashing out at others, abusing substances, among other things. It can be difficult to take the first step and reach out for therapy/counseling. However, taking that first step means that you're prepared to figure out how you can improve your circumstance and move forward. It's my mission to offer you support through your process of achieving mental wellness!

Ideal clients will understand they are the expert in their own lives; I am merely here to walk alongside them in their journey. Common issues include previous trauma (e.g. sexual abuse, interpersonal violence), anxiety, depression, and chronic stress as well as parenting and developing structure in the home. Goals range from decreasing levels of anxiety and depression to eliminating intrusive traumatic memories and nightmares. Coming to therapy without a "real" goal is absolutely okay too! We can work together to figure out what is realistic for your circumstances.

I provide evidence-based therapy for trauma -related concerns, anxiety, autism and ADHD in adults, and gender and sexual identity development.

You’re discouraged living in a world that urges us to shrink, to take up less space, and to be less of ourselves. You might feel messy, disconnected or stressed about life, transitions, or relationships. You feel anxiety about the future, yourself, and other people's expectations of you. You might be processing identity issues or past trauma . Whatever is going on, you’re feeling down on yourself and know something has to change. You want to move to a place where you can fully accept yourself. You want to give yourself the life you've dreamed of. You want to feel validated and you want to be empowered in your true self.

I come from a strengths-based and trauma focused perspective.
Whether this is your first time looking for a therapist or a "last ditch effort" to get help, I believe I can support you. When you are working with me, and yes, therapy is work, it is my hope that you will feel warmth, genuineness, and judgment-free compassion from me. Just the concept of finally feeling heard can be quite powerful in itself. I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches but I do not believe in a cookie-cutter approach to clients, and will tailor my interventions to your needs. While techniques and interventions are important, the rapport and relationship between therapist and client is what is most powerful.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
