I have experience working with youth, individuals and families struggling with addiction and mending parental relationships because of addiction, trauma, family/ relationship conflict, depression and life transitions.
What’s stopping you from being free? Yes, I know, everything happens for a reason but how you grow from that anxiety, that depression, that addiction or family conflict you have and are experiencing is completely up to you. Now is the time to move from just existing to truly living. Sometimes in life, because of hardships that we face or people that we are connected to, we lose focus on being the best version of ourselves, but through therapy we can explore that process. I would love to be a part of your journey to total healing.

Whether this is your first time looking for a therapist or a "last ditch effort" to get help, I believe I can support you. When you are working with me, and yes, therapy is work, it is my hope that you will feel warmth, genuineness, and judgment-free compassion from me. Just the concept of finally feeling heard can be quite powerful in itself. I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches but I do not believe in a cookie-cutter approach to clients, and will tailor my interventions to your needs. While techniques and interventions are important, the rapport and relationship between therapist and client is what is most powerful.

Do you struggle with poor self-worth, worry, eating disorders, trauma or relationship issues? If so, I may be able to help.
I am a psychotherapist who has been on a continual healing journey myself. And I welcome you to yours. In my life and work, I’ve come to appreciate how much of our well being depends on the strength of our relationships. Connecting to people we trust for support and relief from distress is critical. Yet, when we have heartbreak, loss, stress, or trauma, we may be too afraid to reach out to the very people who could comfort us. How often do you share something vulnerable with someone and feel heard? Sadly, for many this rarely happens, leading to depression, poor self esteem and problems coping. But there’s hope and help.

I have worked with older teens and adults for over 20 years. I view therapy as a collaborative effort, believing my clients to be experts on themselves, and my job as facilitating movement towards establishment and achievement of their goals in therapy. I believe the therapeutic relationship to be the most crucial element of therapy. I provide a relaxed, supportive and empowering environment in which my clients can work. I believe that the more honest my clients can be with what they find beneficial in therapy, the better able we are to work successfully to achieve their goals.

I enjoy working with adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship difficulties.
The client-therapist relationship is one of the most powerful vehicles for personal growth and change. In my practice, I offer an accepting, non-judgmental space where you can explore how your life experiences have helped shape who you are and move towards healthier ways of being. The process of psychotherapy is a sacred journey that is co-created by the client and therapist, and I recognize the courage it takes for the client to embark on a rewarding, but sometimes difficult, path towards self-awareness. My approach to couples counseling focuses on creating safety and connection between partners.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
