Life is full of ups and downs, and at times we are pushed beyond our limits in ways that challenge who we believe ourselves to be. Under pressure, it’s easy to slip into reacting rather than living intentionally. Moving forward is not simple—our attention is pulled in many directions, resources feel limited, and progress can falter. My role is to help identify and change the factors that keep you stuck, so you can move with greater clarity, purpose, and resilience. Together, we will define what success truly means for you and create a path that supports it.

***WELCOMING NEW CLIENTS*** at Purpose Filled Counseling we realize that at some point all of us have found ourselves in the midst of some stressful seasons of life. We refer to those rough seasons as "drops." The reality is that each of us have been dropped at some point and each drop can potentially leave us with some scars - be it emotionally, mentally and in some cases even spiritually. Our goal is to provide a holistic approach to the counseling process. Spiritual Psychotherapy helps to give us the strength to continue our journey and ensures that you have someone that is willing to walk along side of you.

I've been in social work for nearly 30 years. The last 7 of those as a licensed therapist — but the decades before that, working with people in the places life actually happens: families in crisis, communities under strain, individuals trying to hold things together when holding things together was very hard. That kind of experience changes how you listen. It changes what you notice. It changes what you don't get rattled by anymore. I work with adults and older adults, and I bring all of that with me. I'm also honest about the fact that I think therapy doesn't have to be heavy all the time — humor has a real place in this work.

I have worked with children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of concerns including depression, divorce, anxiety, relationship issues, domestic violence recovery, parenting problems, career challenges, PTSD, substance use, out of home placement, LGBT-related issues, mood disorders, bullying and ADHD.
Sometimes it doesn’t look like a crisis; it looks like staying busy, keeping it together, and pushing through while stress, anger, or anxiety quietly build. You might notice your patience getting shorter, your mood shifting faster, or relationships feeling more strained than usual. I am here to assist you as you navigate through various challenges! My name is Tiffany Compton Murchison, and I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor as well as a licensed clinical addiction specialist associate. It would be an honor to assist you with identifying your personal goals and supporting you on your healing journey!

I have a love for people and as long as I can remember, I walked in the role as a counselor before I realized it was a profession. My greatest passion is helping others in any capacity. I was a School teacher for over 20 years teaching grades 6-9. As a teacher, I wore many hats which included being a counselor for my students as well as the entire school. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. I attended Liberty University where I received my Masters’ Degree in Professional Counseling.

My approach to therapy is to assist individuals in accomplishing their goals in this journey we call life. I feel our expectations of others, ourselves and our environment create more stress than we often realize. The good news is we can tame those expectations in order to live a more purposeful life, less driven by stress and greatly assisted by the skills acquired in therapy.

“Fake it til you make it” is a saying that many of us are familiar with and a motto that many of us unknowingly live by. Behind every smile is a story of a personal struggle. Have you ever wondered how your life would look if you didn’t have to fake happiness, joy, or contentment? What if you had the tools needed to not only survive but truly enjoy living?

Hi, and welcome. For over 24 years I've had the privilege of witnessing people gain peace, and improve functioning through the therapeutic process. We've all suffered and spent our lives searching for peace. Peace is often found in those places we've been avoiding or unable to access on our own. Life does have a compass; it's within you, buried under all the programming, conditioning, and trauma. It takes courage, and a willingness to feel uncomfortable while looking at what's driving the suffering. The great news: You can significantly decrease the suffering in your life if you're willing to look directly at it using certain tools.

Seasons of life come and go and with each season comes new challenges. Many times, turning the page to the next chapter is difficult. While serving in pastoral ministry for over 10 years, I've had the privilege to witness many individuals and couples turn the page and experience the life that God desires for them. You can be all that God has created you to be and you can experience life abundantly. Sometimes we just need a little help reaching goals and working through situations and circumstances. I want to help you find the abundant life and turn the page to your next chapter.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
