I work evenings (M, Tu, Th, and occasional weekends) with primarily adolescent and adult populations ranging from
anxiety
/depression, addiction and my personal special interest of working with people of color and racial/medical
anxiety
/trauma.
Are you barely making it through your day? Through your life? You feel like something is missing? Or you cannot let go of something pulling you to the past? A lot of individuals feel this way. People walk around feeling empty, not knowing if they can make it to tomorrow, keeping in trauma and trying to forget the past. What do they all have in common? They keep it in. Depression,
anxiety
, trauma, addiction, etc. All the labels that get thrown around but are real life realities to a lot of people. How do you work through it? Is holding it in working? Are you able to actually cope? Are you able to function? What do you need? Therapy?

I practice with the belief that that therapy can be a rich and vital exploration into understanding the deepest parts of our selves: the parts we like and the parts we wish to change. We all have unconscious patterns that can get in the way of living the life we want. These patterns can manifest as
anxiety
, depression, phobias, physical illness or pain, addiction and even rage. These symptoms can affect relationships, work, self esteem, creativity and sexuality. Change is possible when these patterns can be expressed and understood in an open and accepting space.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS I am passionate and excited about the therapeutic work I do with each individual I see. I work to build a safe, trusting and honest therapeutic relationship. As this therapeutic relationship builds I guide, challenge and encourage each individual to take the skills they are learning, the courage they are building and work towards the goals they are taking the steps to reach. Therapy is a journey that will take you through the process of finding clarity and understanding you are struggling to find due to eating disorder(s),
anxiety
, depression and/or postpartum depression.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
