Addiction is heart breaking for the patient and their loved ones. We can decide on an avenue for treatment which may be a referral to medical detoxification or inpatient substance abuse centers. If we work together on an outpatient bases, while you stay at home, my clients are willing to dive into the difficult work of changing ideas, behaviors and results in their lives. Engaging in therapy asks that you be willing to take risks and change ideas as well as your actions. I will guide you through the process of exploring your personal goals and the barriers to reaching these goals without the use of mind/mood altering substances.
Tackling substance dependency includes exploring all aspects of the disease of addiction to include your thinking processes, your physical reaction to substances, and your emotional struggles. Often, my patients have co-occurring depression and/or anxiety that complicates recovery. Keep an open mind, and believe that we can work together to decrease your suffering.
