My approach to counseling and psychotherapy is a type of talk therapy that focuses on understanding yourself more deeply. We’ll look at how your past experiences, early relationships, and unspoken feelings might shape your current emotions, behaviors, and relationships. It’s not just about solving problems right away — it’s about becoming more aware of what’s going on inside you. That awareness can help you make healthier choices, improve relationships, and feel more in control of your life. The sessions are usually open-ended, meaning you can talk freely about whatever comes to mind — your thoughts, dreams, or memories.

Are you where you want to be in life? Are you happy with your situation? Are you happy with yourself? Sometimes people aren’t even sure what it is they want but they know they want something to change. That is why I am here. I became a marriage and family therapist in 2009 after watching family and friends struggle with the pressures of today’s society and with keeping relationships together in a world that has become increasingly mobile and dependent on technology.

Do you constantly feel “on edge,” overwhelmed, or emotionally drained? Maybe anxiety and self-doubt are making it hard to trust yourself, speak up for your needs, or feel confident in your relationships. Life transitions, stress, and emotional struggles can feel isolating—but you don’t have to carry them by yourself. I work with children, teens, and adults who want to better understand themselves, improve communication and boundaries, and feel more confident navigating everyday life. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel genuinely heard and understood while learning practical tools that create lasting change.

Helping the hurting is my focus, from the scrapes of life to the deep wounds. We all have challenges and can benefit from support, education, new skills, or other healing. A holistic approach allows for addressing the mind, body, and spirit when needed. I strive to provide a safe place to process emotions, solve problems, or seek growth. People are created for connection. Many problems come back to this core truth. I use these principles to examine blocks to this connection.

I work to help individuals cope with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, life transitions, ADHD, LGBTQIA issues, divorce and/or separation, addiction and recovery, and trauma.
I believe life is full of seasons—times of joy, struggle, growth, and change—and we’re all just doing our best to find our way through them. I know what it feels like to question yourself, to feel stuck, or to wonder if you’re heading in the right direction. I’ve also learned that having someone in your corner—someone who listens without judgment and helps you see yourself more clearly—can make all the difference. For me, this work isn’t just about “therapy.” It’s about connection. I value honesty, humor, and compassion. And I feel honored any time I get to walk alongside someone as they uncover those parts of themselves.

We all long to feel a sense of belonging and connection, and positive relationships are essential in helping us live fulfilling lives. However, old wounds and different communication styles can sometimes prevent us from finding satisfaction in our current connections, leaving us feeling stuck and disillusioned. Life also has a way of pulling the rug from under our feet leaving us feeling lost, broken, and unsure of how we got to this point in our story.

I believe that every person has the ability to grow, heal and change. As a counselor, I provide a space of nonjudgmental acceptance and authenticity which invites clients to show up exactly as they are and to be valued and supported in all aspects of their identity. I aim to partner with and empower my clients, utilizing the strengths and skills they already possess, to work toward their goals for healing and growth. My counseling orientation is grounded in a family systems approach, though I also draw significantly from attachment theory and person-centered counseling.

When you are feeling overwhelmed by life, a therapist can help you. You know that you want to feel better - and be better for yourself and others - but when you have been doing the things that have always worked in the past and find they are not working now, it may be time to enlist the support of a therapist.  I love to work with people who feel overwhelmed, stuck, sad, anxious, indecisive, or have any other painful emotion. Instead of feeling stuck, I want to help you feel empowered to move forward and help manage those painful feelings.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
