Accepting New Clients! You give so much of yourself, yet still feel like you're falling short of expectations. That unconventional perspective of yours has fueled your creativity, but you worry that people don’t really “get” you. It doesn’t help that you have anxiety in social situations. Even your closest
relationship
feels increasingly tense and disconnected. These are challenging things to deal with alone. I want to help you find your way to calm, balance, and connection.

Depression, anxiety, trauma, and even
relationship
struggles hold the capacity to prevent us from living the life we want.
I offer clients a collaborative approach to address whatever may have brought them to my door. My relationally focused psychodynamic style supports the idea that healing occurs through our connection with others. By providing a safe and solid therapeutic
relationship
to a person, that person begins to experience a greater range of perspective regarding their own life and the lives around them. With increased self-awareness, individuals are able to recognize that they have more choices in their lives. I have found this to be true regardless of what obstacles a person may be facing.

Many of my clients relate to the experience of feeling "othered", different or as existing outside of culturally-constructed margins. In our increasingly isolationist world, feeling different or other is becoming a common experience. While many things may remind us of our difference, or "non-normativity", in therapy I aim to collaboratively uncover and identify the worth and purpose that I believe exist in all humxn beings. I believe that all concerns, struggles, challenges, curiosities and explorations brought to therapy are related to relationships--the
relationship
we have with ourselves and other people. Often, clients express a need for deep connection and goals involve enhancing relationships, identifying emotions, coping more effectively with emotions, and nourishing self-worth and confidence. Research on therapeutic effectiveness has repeatedly demonstrated that therapeutic
relationship
is the principle determinant of positive therapeutic outcome. Thus, when I first meet clients, client-therapist
relationship
and chemistry is the primary emphasis and catalyst for change.

relationship
issues, or difficult life transitions and circumstances, you do not have to navigate them alone. My role as your therapist is to support and challenge you to reach your personal goals, with compassion and understanding, in an empathetic, judgment free partnership.

relationship
dynamics.
I enjoy working with individuals who are seeking lasting healing and therapeutic change. You may be experiencing depression, anxiety, or overwhelm that is signaling the need for a different way of living and approaching your life. You may have past trauma and need a safe space to work through this. Old patterns, wounding and trauma live in our bodies and show up in many ways including in relationships, feelings, thoughts, beliefs & body sensations. We will work together to heal and integrate these through a therapeutic approach that is relational, embodied, spirit-oriented and attentive to the culture and larger systems we live in.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
