When we as parents feel our best, we
parent
more lovingly and effectively.
Now Accepting New Clients! You’re done white-knuckling your way through this. The anxiety, the constant decision making, the toxic relationships that you've successfully managed for years are turning you into someone you don't like. You feel your life spinning off axis. You don’t want to lead just another instagram-perfect life. You want your insides to match your outside. I help curious parents who are breaking generational cycles so they can
parent
more gently, set boundaries more intentionally and create families and communities that are equitable, thoughtful and whole.

I specialize in treating school-based behavioral issues, adolescent depression and anxiety, LGBT+ identity, adoptive/blended families, and trauma; and provide
parent
guidance to caregivers.
I have been working with adolescents and young adults for 15 years. I am passionate about connecting teens and their families with resources to ensure they receive holistic care. I believe that even young teenagers can learn important skills that will support them in living healthy adult lives, and I consider the whole family unit as part of the treatment team. I am also passionate about providing clinical services to women (and those who identify as women). I use a strength-based approach to empower women to find their power and their voice to assert themselves at home, in the workplace, and in their relationships.

Addiction, ADHD, trauma, anxiety/depression, and
parenting
are all issues I help with.
Life is found in the both/and, not the either/or: Joy and pain, struggle and victory, happiness and sadness, celebration and grief, etc. My approach is holistic and multimodal, meaning I integrate various types of therapy approaches according to the needs of each unique client. I believe therapy can look like whatever the client needs it to: talking, expressive arts, taking a walk outside, and more.

Does this describe you? “I am the person everyone goes to for help.” If you replied “yes,” and you are also noticing you are exhausted, not sleeping well, and feeling so worried about others that taking care of yourself isn’t remotely possible, I see you. There are ways to change your patterns to help you feel less worried and better resourced that don’t involve walking away from those you care about. My passion lies in supporting people who feel overstressed and under-supported, to help you discover ways to quiet your mind, deepen your important relationships, and rediscover authentic joy and pleasure in your day-to-day moments.

You already have the answers you need. All you need is someone to listen as you figure out what you already know or encourage you to make the changes you need. You may need permission to take a step, set a boundary, or leave an unhealthy relationship. Counseling allows you to let down walls, process pain, and gain insight from a trusted, neutral person without fear of judgment. I work with teens, adults, and couples experiencing relational pain, anxiety, depression, and various life transitions - including premarital. You can always reach out, and I can help determine if we're a good fit. If not, I'll help you find someone who is.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
