I offer therapy sessions in person & online; I'm available Monday-Friday with evening availability!
Hi there, I’m Sarah! I'm a neurodivergent-affirming and trauma-informed therapist who works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and overwhelming life stressors. If you’re feeling emotionally exhausted, stuck in survival mode, or pulled in too many directions, you don’t have to handle it alone. Life can feel chaotic when anxiety is high, mood feels unpredictable, or past experiences continue to show up in the present. I provide a supportive, safe, and affirming space where you can slow down, unpack what you’ve been carrying, and express yourself openly — without judgment and with genuine empathy.

No matter how much you do, it feels like you're never "good enough." Right now, everything feels like too much: school, work, never ending to-do lists. When you try to rest, all you can think is "I should be doing more." Your thoughts are constantly focused on food, your body, or what you “should” be doing. You put pressure on yourself to “do it all”, and when you can’t meet your own high expectations, the anxiety and self-doubt take over. Lately, it feels like your worth is tied to how much you accomplish or how you look, and it’s exhausting.

Hi, I'm Morgan a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). I work with teens and adults who feel stuck in patterns they can't seem to break. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, people pleasing, relationship challenges, substance use, or feeling like they're never quite "enough." They often know what they should do, but find themselves repeating the same behaviors, overwhelmed by their emotions, or disconnected from the person they want to be. Therapy can help you better understand yourself and create meaningful change.

Lic Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, MDiv MA, LCMHCA, NCC, PCFBPPC
Cornelius, NC 28031
I offer counseling in person or online, with free phone consultations and flexible weekday and evening availability.
Life is a journey, and we are all trying to find our way home. Along the way, the load we carry can become heavy and make the journey more difficult. Sometimes, we simply need permission to pause, set down our packs, take a breath, and gently sort through what we’ve been carrying. In doing so, we can move forward with greater clarity and a lighter load. My name is Courtenay McFarlin, and it is an honor to walk alongside others as they create the time and space to process all that life has brought their way. It is my joy to guide others toward restored hope, nurtured faith, and grounded love.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
