Dr. Sharika Mcfadden is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 20 years of experience working with adults, children, and families. She is passionate about supporting adults, couples, and individuals in making change. Dr. McFadden specializes in many areas, including (but not limited to) work-life balance issues, couples therapy, career counseling, relationship issues, transgender and LGBTQIQ+ issues, anxiety, major life transitions, military family life, and child custody concerns.

Our organizational consulting services help leadership teams grow and learn and our private practice consulting helps clinicians ready to take the leap into private practice. Our clinical supervision services are available to LCMHCA's, LCSWA's, and LPA's in NC.

I have maintained an independent private practice since 1992. Combined with my prior professional experiences in hospital, partial and day programs, as well as over 30 years working in the substance abuse field, I bring professionalism, stability and a wide range of experience to the counseling relationship. Julia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with ten years of experience working with a diverse client base including children, adolescents, adults, and families. She incorporates a range of skills and therapeutic approaches into her work and believes that counseling should be an experience that is tailored to the needs and goals of the individual. She believes strongly in the resilience of the human spirit, even in the face of the most trying challenges. Julia has training in various evidence-based therapies including; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Emotion Focused Therapy.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and I own Firmly Rooted Counseling & Consulting. I specialize in women's issues, birth trauma, postpartum anxiety/depression, eating disorders, LGBTQAI+ affirming, and body image concerns. Parenting and attachment parenting is also a passion of mine. I love to work with parents brainstorming ways to get through tough situations using positive discipline. I also have a specialty in working with children and adults on the autism spectrum. I approach each client as an individual and cater my therapy techniques to what will work best for that specific client.

Life is not always easy. Sometimes life is challenging because of circumstances related to our actions; sometimes these challenges are a result of circumstances beyond our control.
