You’ve been holding it together for years—at work, at home, or in your relationships—but lately it feels like the wheels are coming off. You’re anxious, burned out, and stuck in patterns that drain you. Maybe it’s people-pleasing, overworking, or using things to numb the stress. You crave clarity, calm, and real tools to communicate better, set boundaries that hold, and feel steady again. You want to stop just getting by and start living with balance, confidence, and purpose. If you’re ready for things to finally change, I can help you get there.

Everyone has a story. . . of joy and sorrow, love and sadness, wounds and healing. Everyone's story is sacred and waiting to be discovered. But often we struggle to read our story because of depression, anxiety, past pains, or relational difficulties. My vision is to enable people to experience God's powerful grace in order to live in true freedom, transformation and discovery. I provide a pathway for people struggling on the journey to find hope for their broken hearts, healing for their wounds, and a hiding place to wrestle with the grace of God.

I assist adults seeking help with mild dysthymia, situational depression or anxiety, stress, relationship problems, career concerns, loss, meaning, mortality and other existential issues. I tailor an approach specific to your need. Existential therapy is my foundation though I use an eclectic approach and draw upon various therapies. Therapy may be brief in duration or lengthy. It is sometimes uncomfortable - the "price" of honest introspection and change. I don't have your "answer" but will help you seek it. I strive - in the words of Irvin Yalom - to help "remove obstacles blocking the patient's path".

I work with clients who struggle with anxiety, self-understanding, and communication. While I generally focus on older teens, young adults, and couples, I also work with those older or younger down to age 12. Often clients aren't sure what their goals are or aren't sure how to begin. I create a safe and supportive space to speak freely so that self understanding can can grow and anxiety can diminish.

Hi, my name is Greg Moon and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHS) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) in the state of North Carolina. I received a master’s degree in counseling, along with a graduate certificate in substance abuse counseling, from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2010. While in graduate school, I decided to specialize in Motivational Interviewing (MI) when I discovered how well the “spirit of MI” (partnership, acceptance, compassion, and empowerment) fit with my perception of how we change and grow.

My ideal client is someone who has been trying to hold everything together while quietly feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck. They’re often caring and capable, but struggle to prioritize their own needs and may feel disconnected from who they want to be. They’re looking for a safe, understanding space to be honest about what they’re going through and to explore what they truly want in life. They want more confidence, clarity, and meaningful connection — and they’re ready to take steps toward feeling like themselves again.

My ideal client is someone navigating anxiety, depression, identity questions, or major life transitions. They may feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or uncertain about their next steps. What they want most is clarity, confidence, and a safe space to be themselves, without judgment. They're ready to do the work, even if they're not exactly sure what that looks like yet.

What I hear most frequently is that people are seeking an understanding of their motivations - why do I do things I do? In asking this question, they're often looking for deeper satisfaction both at work, or school, and in relationships with friends and family. And through our conversations, they often find their pathway in their career, speak up more effectively, and connect more deeply with those they love. Men's topics are a focus of my work, as well as important work with women and older adolescents.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
