I think of therapy as a journey. I see my role as walking along side my client, shedding light on the past, helping make connections between events, thoughts, actions, and feelings. Working collaboratively, we make use of these insights to develop new perspectives on the past and the present. At the end of our time together, I want my client to feel more secure and confident moving forward under their own power, liking who they are and what they have to offer the world.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I create a safe, affirming space where clients can show up as their authentic selves. Using a neuroaffirmative lens, I honor neurological differences like autism and ADHD as valuable aspects of identity. My work blends DBT for emotional regulation and relationship skills, Motivational Interviewing to support self-directed change, and the Gottman Method to strengthen couples’ communication and connection. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey, where together we build tools, insight, and confidence to help you live a life that feels authentic and meaningful.

Ever feel like you’re expected to have all the answers, but you’re still trying to figure out the questions? Whether you’re a teen navigating the chaos of high school, a young adult "adulting" for the first time, or an adult looking for a fresh perspective—I’m here to help you navigate the map. I’m Jennifer, and my approach to counseling is built around curiosity and reflection in a supportive space. I don’t sit across from you as a distant expert. I see myself as a fellow traveler. Think of me as the person in the passenger seat who holds the GPS (and the snacks) while you are behind the wheel.

I see how heartbreaking it can be to watch your child struggle with anxiety, big emotions, or challenges that seem too heavy for their small shoulders. As a parent, you may feel worried, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to help—and that can feel incredibly lonely. You're not alone, and you don’t have to navigate this on your own. I'm here to support you and your family with care that’s compassionate, practical, and grounded in what works. As a licensed mental health counselor, I work with children as young as 4 years old, as well as parents and adults healing from trauma, using an approach that’s both gentle and evidence-based.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
