We are living in a fast-paced and ever changing world. Change happens to all of us, whether gradually or all at once. Regardless, we find ourselves dealing with changes the best way we know how. Sometimes it works, but we then inevitably find ourselves back to where we started. Or worse, the changes and obstacles become too much and we can't find where we were or are now. Wherever you are in life, I'm here to meet you where you are. I've worked within mental health for many years in community mental health and non-profit settings. People typically come to see me because they are either in crisis or because they desire to have a greater understanding of themselves. During a crisis, you may suffer from depressed mood, hopelessness, anxiety/panic, and irritability. While uncomfortable, these symptoms can be informative - a signal to address things in your life and yourself, likely things you have known about for a while, but have been avoiding. We may examine the things that brought you to this place in your life: your family and personal history, current stressors, cultural and societal factors.

While my clinical specialization are mental illnesses like schizophrenia, my therapy focus is serving individuals 18+ who are struggling with life stressors that affect how you show up in the world & how you show up for yourself.
Have you noticed yourself struggling with “the balance?” You can’t quite find that sweet spot & it has you feeling lost, confused, consumed, detached, depressed, anxious or overwhelmed? Do work demands, societal expectations, past trauma, dating challenges, family dynamics, kids, marriage, drinking water, exercising, engaging in self-care, etc each feel like something else to manage? Could you benefit from someone who is unrelated to your situation, to listen objectively & without judgement to help untangle the weave life has woven? There is likely a pattern to be uncovered.

I believe we are all recovering from something. As a clinician, I believe that a healthy nonjudgmental relationship is foundational to each of our healing journeys. Having someone who we can be honest with, who is honest with us, allows us to be honest with ourselves and reach our ultimate potential. While the therapeutic relationship is our foundation, I incorporate elements of motivational interviewing, solution focused, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies in order to meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.

My ideal client is someone that is earnest about receiving help and making changes. They would be someone who is able to identify their needs in therapy and what they want to improve. They will be engaged in treatment and open to therapeutic techniques. They will ask questions and ask for support and assistance.

Nature's Way Holistic Counseling offers EMDR and clinical mental health counseling with the addition of a health and wellness framework that connects the body, mind, and spirit. We believe in the term "holistic" counseling because our minds are not independent of all other aspects of life, but is part of the complex, interconnected factors of life, including the food we eat, the environment in which we live, and the content we consume. Although some counseling services address these topics on some level, there is a gap in the field of practitioners offering such a comprehensive evaluation.

Leadership is hard. Many leaders struggle with loneliness, perfectionism, and the pressure to be everything for everyone while carrying their own histories of trauma or adversity. Their resilience and drive push them to overcome, but often at the cost of their own well-being. As a trauma specialist for a decade and an entrepreneur myself, I understand how strength and survival can become intertwined. I help leaders and high achievers heal old wounds, find balance, and create lives that feel both purposeful and peaceful.

Psychosis Therapists
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
