As a clinician, I am well-versed in addressing parenting issues, severe psychosis, anxiety, trauma, gender identity, substance use, and stress management.
Life is a marathon and I believe that it is all about endurance. Sometimes we have to get a little help along the way whether it be a change of shoes, re-uptake of protein or a water break. There is this idea that we are weak when we seek others to help us out, but I also know that in life we cannot always persevere without a helping hand. I look forward to being an option of that new running shoe or Gatorade as we stride through the finish line together.

I have also been afforded the opportunity to treat diagnosis including: depression, bipolar disorder, mood disorder, TBI, schizophrenia, PTSD, and ADD.
I am honored to be of service to you. I know that trauma and substance abuse and addiction can wreak havoc in one's life. Many of client's find themselves faced with challenges of having to restart their lives during mental challenges and addiction; some may have to fight to regain custody of their children; many of them have co-occurring mental illness that has lead to substance abuse and/or addiction. For some, addiction comes by way of biological, environmental, and social influences, but from my experience, I have learned that mental illness was present before addiction became a factor. People typically come to see me because they are either in crisis or because they desire to have a greater understanding of themselves. During a crisis, you may suffer from depressed mood, hopelessness, anxiety/panic, and irritability. While uncomfortable, these symptoms can be informative - a signal to address things in your life and yourself, likely things you have known about for a while, but have been avoiding. We may examine the things that brought you to this place in your life: your family and personal history, current stressors, cultural and societal factors.

Calling all of the overthinkers, the treatment-resistant depression sufferers, the people who say ‘therapy never worked for me,’ or ‘will never work for me,' the perfectionists and imperfect perfectionists alike. If you break out in hives when you are asked about your five-year plan, I’m your therapist. I promise to challenge you and make you laugh. I promise a safe space to make mistakes. I named my practice Waystation Counseling because way station is defined as, "a stopping point on a journey." I want you to leave your first appointment refreshed with a clear path and a set of goals.

My clients often come to therapy stating their lives feel consistently chaotic and out of control. It seems no matter what they have tried, they can't escape from recurrent depression and major ups and downs in their mood. They often feel even the most minor situation triggers intense emotional pain. They describe significant difficulty within their relationships and report at times lashing out in anger because of feeling unheard, empty, and disconnected from their real self. They may even try to regain control of their life and emotions through self-destructive behaviors like drinking too much or hurting themself.

Psychosis Therapists
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.
When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.
What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.
How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
