Each of us have encountered circumstances that have tested us and, possibly, led us to question past decisions and/or our ability to navigate difficulty situations. RCC works with individuals who are struggling to identify or renew their purpose in life, develop and utilize coping skills, or want to improve the quality of their relationships. We also work with couples who want to heal their relationship and restore trust. This can include couples who have experienced infidelity or couples who want to improve the quality of their communication and identify ways to navigate common issues (i.e. arguing fair, parenting ).

Childhood is a rollercoaster of experiences. Navigating these ups and downs can leave children worried, sad, withdrawn, or struggling with behaviors. As a parent or caregiver it can be difficult knowing what to say or how to help. I love partnering with children and their families to create a safe space to process some of the most difficult times of their lives.

Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If you are looking for things to change and are willing to work with me, things can get better. So many clients enter therapy with apprehension and a lack of hope for things to improve. I focus my practice on creating trust and getting my clients back on track as quickly and as comfortably as possible. Therapy begins with an end in mind and you and I would work together to make sure we are always making progress towards goals.

7 of 10 people will experience a significant trauma by adulthood. Trauma affects each of us in a different way. Sometimes those effects can be substantial and lasting. Leaving trauma untreated can shape the way we think, behave, relate, learn, love, and even parent . Recovering from trauma and/or finding balance in life or relationships is not always easy to do alone. Counseling is the perfect tool to help gain perspective in life's most difficult circumstances and challenges. Our clinicians are passionate about helping our family’s emotional functioning and maintaining healthy balances.

Becoming a parent often changes your identity, but it should never feel like you've lost yourself.
Motherhood (and fatherhood!) looks different on everyone. My passion for maternal mental health sparked after having my daughter and I was able to fully appreciate the challenges and range of emotions that surface within parenthood from a lived experience. I then sought to specialize in Perinatal Mental Health to shift my focus from counseling children to counseling parents. When most people hear about Perinatal Mental Health, they often think of postpartum depression- but Perinatal Mental Health encompasses so much more than that! I work with women in all stages of parenthood including infertility, grief, and loss.

, new couples wanting to make a solid start of their lives, and co- parenting for those who chose to separate but need parent .
I have had many years of experience working with adolescents, children, adults, and their families in both facilities as well as in homes. Through this experience, I have built my practice of clinicians who really are able to connect and listen to our clients. My work with relationships, couples and families has led me to my current practice. Meeting people where they are is so important. Helping them find their strengths and supports within their life, working on goals that are hopeful and achieveable, and finally helping them find their purpose in life, their relationships, and within themselves is the ultimate goal of therapy

I have specialized training in helping children and their parents address trauma ,anxiety and parenting difficulties.
Childhood comes with ups and downs for children and the parents who are figuring it out alongside them. Children show us their concerns through their behaviors. As a parent you may be unsure of what to do or say to help your child in difficult moments and sometimes your own childhood experiences may be interfering in your parenting journey. Parents come to me when they want to improve the parent -child relationship after a trauma or stressor, want help with reducing their child's anxiety, are unsure of how to manage their child's big feelings and behavioral reactions and/or want to break generational cycles in their parenting .

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
