We live in a world where we are constantly expected to grow and change without even knowing ourselves. With all my clients, I see them as the experts of their own life and aim to create a supportive space for vulnerability and radical acceptance. If they are struggling to find to their inner voice, I work with them to do this by processing their life experiences and trauma. By following a person centered and eclectic strategy, we develop tools for a deeper self-understanding of their needs and boundaries. Sometimes taking care of ourselves is the hardest thing because our lives don't have therapy built in our day. We become masters at believing we are dealing with our struggles, depression, anxiety, yet we never seem to get to a point where we are actually making a change. We see what we are doing isn't working yet we continue to do the same. I work with adults facing a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, mania, adjustment related issues, relationship issues, divorce and grief/loss. I have over 20 years of experience helping individuals find healthy solutions.

I work with adults in individual, couple, and family therapy to create more balanced relationships, with themselves and others. Together we explore issues related to intergenerational trauma, dysfunctional relationship patterns, and family issues. These issues often look like disconnection, unresolvable issues, uneven work-life balance, and people pleasing. My clients often identify has Highly Sensitive People (HSP) or as therapists and healers. If this sounds like you, let's chat!

Are you a teacher unsure if you can handle another school year? Do you feel stressed beyond words? I hear you, you’re exhausted. Your school is underserved, under resourced, and understaffed. There are extra students in your classroom most days, dispersed to you because of teacher shortages. You don’t have the support you desperately need, you’re not being paid NEARLY enough for your work, and you feel like you have nothing left to give - yet here is another school year. There is part of you that is excited, and a huge part of you that dreads each day. You wish you could enjoy teaching again.

None of us go through life without experiencing changes or life transitions. We struggle with depression and fight off our anxiety. We go through our day on autopilot, lacking energy, and feeling hopeless. We isolate ourselves from friends and family, we feel misunderstood, or we temporarily escape reality & lessen our pain with alcohol, drugs, food, etc. Resisting change causes us pain and creates additional stress and anxiety in our lives. Acceptance and embracing change begins the healing. If we approach transitions with curiosity rather than fear, and intention rather than reluctance, we can respond to change and foster growth.

I am passionate about working with men who have a desire to grow into the next greatest version of themselves. My life's purpose is to serve men who choose to walk the path of embodied presence. The walk on this path is not always easy. It can include suffering and heartache. These struggles have always been a part of the human experience. And, incredible transformation can occur when a man chooses to face these challenges in order to realize his full potential. I specialize in communication and relationship-building skills and bring more than 20 years of experience working with teens and adults in these areas.

Open Relationships Non-Monogamy Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a therapist specializing in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
A client seeking help with an open or consensually non-monogamous relationship will prefer to talk with a professional whom they can count on to be nonjudgmental. Talking with a supportive therapist may on its own help relieve some of the stigma and challenges partners face. That said, the most important factor in the success of any type of therapy is the ability of the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond. For this reason, an individual or couple could find success with a therapist who does not specialize in non-monogamous relationships but with whom they can build trust.
When should open or consensually non-monogamous partners seek counseling?
Like other couples, polyamorous partners typically seek counseling when they face relationship challenges they can’t solve themselves. In non-monogamous relationships, this could include breaches of trust, including infidelity; unclear rules or violations of boundaries; jealousy of outside partners; the stress of juggling the needs of multiple partners; or the effect of high partner turnover on children. Like those of other couples, polyamorous bonds can be threatened by increasingly frequent arguments, poor or dysfunctional communication, diminished emotional or physical intimacy, or the feeling that something is wrong, even if they don’t know what it is.
Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
No, but individuals seeking help with non-monogamous relationships would most likely consult a licensed professional with specific training in couples counseling or couples therapy. Couples counseling and couples therapy both involve teaching concrete strategies to navigate conflict in relationships. A good therapist can engage both partners as they explain these approaches but can also work with a single partner.
How long does therapy for consensually non-monogamous couples typically last?
Couples therapy for any type of couple, tends to be relatively time-limited, lasting around 12 weeks on average. A good therapist will tailor sessions to the individual partners’ emotions and sometimes their past, along with patterns found to be repeating in the relationship. In many cases, clients should expect their therapist to assign “homework” between weekly sessions.
