You might feel stuck in your life or in unmanageable feelings or in a relationship or in your healing process. I want to help you find a safe place to get clarity, to explore your feelings and concerns, to receive honest constructive feedback and support. I will invite you to be an active participant in your own growth and change. This might include hearing your story, exploring feelings, teaching you an Energy Medicine approach called Emotional Freedom Techniques. This likely will include doing projects outside of sessions such as reading, journaling or daring to try new things.

I help people who feel stuck see what is true so they can take the action that sets them free. Sometimes we are afraid to admit that the answer to change lies within ourselves, rather than being dependent on changes in other people. What most helps is a sense of complete ownership of what's happening in our life, not as blame or self-recrimination - and not to excuse anyone else's behavior - but as a powerful step to change what we can change! The false belief that keeps us stuck is that we are powerless to change our emotions, responses, or circumstances. I will help you.

If your life feels like a shit show you can’t stop watching—welcome. You’re in the right place. Maybe you’re battling trauma, addiction, rage, grief, or you’re just so tired of pretending you’re okay. Therapy with me isn’t small talk and coloring books. It’s deep, honest, sometimes messy work that actually shifts things. You don’t need to be “fixed”—you need to be witnessed, held, and challenged. Let’s burn the rulebook and build something real.

On the outside it might look like your functioning: you're showing up for work, caring for others, telling yourself you should be fine, but inside you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, and exhausted from holding it all together. You may wake up with your heart racing, your stomach tight, and your mind already spinning before the day even begins. The burden of carrying unresolved trauma, painful and confusing relationships, or anxiety and depression can drain the color from life. You may have tried talking about it before and it might have helped you understand things, but not to feel different. You want real change, not more coping.

I have been providing therapy since 2000, and I specialize in counseling adults who want long-lasting relief from depression, anxiety, and need better, and more complete ways to heal. I'm always a guinea pig for new ways of working with the anxiety-depresson spiral. Once I discovered gentle, yet powerful ways of healing, for myself, I knew that the people I work best with would also find both relief and growth.

Neuro-Linguistic (NLP) Therapists

How does neuro-linguistic programming work?

A therapist using Neuro-linguistic programming might start by building a strong rapport and gathering information about the client’s objectives and any problem areas. Then the NLP therapist will employ NLP techniques to guide their client toward healthier thoughts and behaviors. Clients will learn how to better manage their moods and hone their communication skills. NLP will conclude with the therapist and client making a plan for how to integrate the positive changes into their daily life in the future.

What are some techniques used in neuro-linguistic programming?

NLP therapists often employ anchoring, so the client begins to automatically associate their trigger with a healthier response. Clients also learn how to reframe a situation to change the way they react to it for the better, and how to replace the negative beliefs that are holding them back. Many NLP clients practice visualization or forming a mental image of themselves attaining their goals. Every NLP therapist will have their own preferred approach with specific techniques that they have found to be helpful for their clients.

How long does neuro-linguistic programming take?

Since neuro-linguistic programming is not regulated, the length of treatment can vary greatly. Some therapists may only use NLP in a single session, while others may employ it over the course of weeks, months, or even years. It depends greatly on the type and severity of the problem being treated, as well as the individual client’s response to NLP treatment.

Is neuro-linguistic programming evidence-based?

While some people may find neuro-linguistic programming helpful, either in therapy or in their career or personal development, the science behind this approach is inconclusive. Most of the available studies are small in scale and have produced mixed results, and the commercial nature of NLP lends itself to conflicts of interest. More research is needed. In the meantime, practitioners must use their best judgment of whether NLP techniques will be helpful in meeting their clients’ individual needs.
