I work primarily with married couples or individuals who feel like: -> A bomb just went off in their relationship (often due to betrayal, infidelity, or various forms of addiction); -> They are are on a merry-go-round, repeating an endless cycle of recurring conflict and can't see any way to get past it; -> Life is so overwhelming they have no idea when or how to even try to pursue connection and intimacy; or -> They are stuck in a rut and light-years away from what they thought marriage would be like when they first got married.

I help people break destructive patterns so that they can live with extraordinary energy and a passion for life. I have witnessed the incredible transformation that can occur when people choose to take action in their lives and release the thoughts and behaviors that do not serve them anymore. We focus on developing clear communication skills and specific mind-body practices that ensure that they can live with clarity. I bring more than 20 years of experience teaching mind-body practices such as yoga, breathwork, mindfulness, and vocal release.

What I hear most frequently is that people are seeking an understanding of their motivations - why do I do things I do? In asking this question, they're often looking for deeper satisfaction both in work, or at school, or in relationships with friends and family. Through our conversations, they often find their pathway in their career, speak up more effectively, and connect more deeply with those they love.

I believe we are all recovering from something. As a clinician, I believe that a healthy nonjudgmental relationship is foundational to each of our healing journeys. Having someone who we can be honest with, who is honest with us, allows us to be honest with ourselves and reach our ultimate potential. While the therapeutic relationship is our foundation, I incorporate elements of motivational interviewing, solution focused, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies in order to meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.

Stress is everywhere, especially with the challenges of the last few years. You might not be feeling like yourself. You could be feeling off, sluggish, misdirected, or overwhelmed. You could be looking to make some shifts in your life, and hopefully grow following a potentially difficult stretch. Change is never easy, but you may be searching for it. You feel it's time for you to set some boundaries, figure out what you truly need, and put ideas into action. Starting therapy can be challenging, and I applaud anyone who takes that step to move forward and give it a try.

One thing is for certain, all of us at one point or another, will need help from somebody else. To seek out someone to help is not a weakness...it is a strength. This means that you are already on the road to recovery. I can help you with the rest, and together we can overcome any obstacle.

My ideal client is motivated for treatment, they would be open to trying out new strategies for coping they may not have tried, and they would be ready to think about their thinking. I work well with depression, anxiety, ADHD, Bipolar disorder, trauma/PTSD, and I enjoy helping clients build confidence and find positive, helpful perspectives.

My goal for our first session is simple: I want you to walk away feeling just a little more hopeful than when you walked in. I work to create a laid-back, judgment-free space where you can be yourself without feeling like you're under a microscope. Whether you're sorting through something heavy or just feeling a bit stuck, this is your space to explore, vent, reflect, and relax.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
