Adolescence & young adulthood can be a rocky time for many people, but I believe therapy can be of great help. I work with youth struggling primarily with mood, identity, and neurodivergence. My goals are to help young people build their strengths and relationships in order to find happiness and success as emerging adults. Some of the things I treat are: depression, self-harm, anxiety, family conflict, gender dysphoria, and transition to young adulthood stress. Generally I practice strengths-based therapy and dialectal-behavior therapy (DBT) within a caring, humanistic approach.

Most people love what they are good at and are good at what they love. I love being a therapist. I have been professionally involved in psychology for 40+ years, and it remains one of my principal passions. When I look into my heart and grasp what has mattered most in my life, I have a deep sense of gratitude for the people I've helped. I chose psychology as a profession not only because it matches my temperament but also because it's a profession that can be developed over a lifetime and improved with age and experience.

I am honored to be of service to you. I know that trauma and substance abuse and addiction can wreak havoc in one's life. Many of client's find themselves faced with challenges of having to restart their lives during mental challenges and addiction; some may have to fight to regain custody of their children; many of them have co-occurring mental illness that has lead to substance abuse and/or addiction. For some, addiction comes by way of biological, environmental, and social influences, but from my experience, I have learned that mental illness was present before addiction became a factor. Does it feel like you’ve spent your life following a script that wasn’t written for you? For many autistic women and girls, as well as those with ADHD, life often feels like a constant cycle of masking and autistic burnout. You may have been told you’re "just anxious" or "sensitive," but you know there is a deeper explanation for how your brain processes the world. As a board-certified psychologist I am dedicated to helping neurodivergent individuals move from surviving to thriving. My practice is neurodiversity affirming, meaning I don’t see your brain as something to be "fixed."

Are you concerned with your child's mental health or development? As a parent/caregiver, your natural instinct is to provide support for your child, although knowing the "what" or "how" is not always clear. All behavior communicates something. Whether it is a skill deficit, learned pattern, neurodivergence, or underlying symptom, determining what lies behind the behavior is the first step to supporting it. You bring the experience as the caregiver and together we will determine how to best support the child, while simultaneously empowering the child to reach their maximum potential.

Life is complicated. Often the difficulties and stress we face create conflict and struggles that need to be shared with others. Through counseling, I believe that clients can find relief from the stress and pain of broken relationships, addiction, past traumas and unidentified emotional and spiritual wounds. I primarily work with adults experiencing anxiety or depression. I also work with people experiencing grief or who have been in abusive relationships. I work collaboratively with clients to help them find peace and rest in the midst of daily life.

I am a licensed psychologist in North Carolina providing psychotherapy and assessment services. I work with adults across different stages of life, offering support during times of stress, change, and emotional overwhelm. I have a particular interest in women’s mental health, including working with women who are pregnant, postpartum, adjusting to the demands of having a baby, or navigating perimenopause and menopause. These transitions can bring emotional shifts, fatigue, self-doubt, and a feeling of not quite being yourself.

Life is wonderfully complex, filled with experiences, challenges, and mysteries that even science has yet to fully explain. I believe every person carries unique strengths, abilities, and personal complexities that shape who they are. At times, these very complexities can make it difficult to feel safe, secure, or at peace — impacting happiness, relationships, and overall well-being. I work with children, adolescents, and adults to address emotional and behavioral concerns, navigate life transitions, heal from trauma, and manage school or workplace challenges.
