I offer therapy in-person at my Charlotte office and virtually via secure telehealth.
I work with adults and men who seek a safe, nonjudgmental space to process life’s challenges. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, or identity-related stress. They want to feel seen, understood, and supported, without stigma. Their goal is to build coping skills, emotional resilience, and self-acceptance. They choose therapy to gain clarity, growth, and connection. They come to my practice because they want a culturally responsive, affirming environment that honors their lived experience and fosters genuine healing.

You're the one everyone calls. The capable one, the dependable one, the one who just figures it out. And you do, every single time. But lately? It's heavier than it used to be. You're tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix. You're functioning, but you know you're not really living. If you're honest, you've been putting yourself last for so long you're not even sure what you actually need anymore. A lot of my clients grew up learning early that their feelings and needs weren't the priority. Sound familiar? You're in exactly the right place.

Calling all of the overthinkers, the treatment-resistant depression sufferers, the people who say ‘therapy never worked for me,’ or ‘will never work for me,' the perfectionists and imperfect perfectionists alike. If you break out in hives when you are asked about your five-year plan, I’m your therapist. I promise to challenge you and make you laugh. I promise a safe space to make mistakes. I named my practice Waystation Counseling because way station is defined as, "a stopping point on a journey." I want you to leave your first appointment refreshed with a clear path and a set of goals.

My idea as a psychotherapist is to provide safe, comfortable & judgment-free environment for clients to work through issues. My role as a psychotherapist is to respect the goals that my clients come in with, and support the process of working toward these goals. I believe Psychotherapy can enhance one's self-awareness and the ability to recognize in one's own self-defeating and self-sabotaging patterns, and to change these patterns.

Life is hard... but this is not news. Life is also complex; we can believe we're strong, but feel week, or believe we're weak and surprise ourselves with strength. We crave control but feel like a passenger. We present a confident mask and have no idea who's actually wearing it. We give great advice but struggle to take our own. We've come so far, but feel like we're nowhere. If any of those rings a bell, that doesn't make you broken, or a hypocrite, it makes you human. Life is not either/or, it's all-of-the-above, and I suggest we stop making it even harder for ourselves by imagining it should be straightforward.

Do you feel like you’re losing yourself in your relationships, constantly giving, explaining, and holding everything together? I work with people who are done repeating the same painful patterns with emotionally unavailable, unpredictable, or self-focused partners or family members. If you’re healing from dynamics shaped by narcissistic traits, people-pleasing, or chronic imbalance, you don’t just need a space to vent, you need a space to wake up to your own power again.

There is no pain threshold to justify therapy. If you are interested in working with someone, that is enough of a reason to begin. In my work, I have seen people from a wide range of backgrounds, with varying reasons for why they came, different ages, and different expectations from what they wanted out of therapy. I like working with my clients to figure out the best way they can have the support they need and reach the goals they want. Whether that's addressing grief, anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, or just processing changes.

You show up for everyone. You give generously and pour yourself into others. And somehow you end up exhausted, resentful, and wondering why nobody shows up for you the same way. I specialize in anxiety and work with high achievers, athletes, and emotionally intelligent people tired of carrying everyone else. My clients battle a loud inner critic, feel stuck in internal conflicts, and can't understand why doing everything right still feels so wrong. I call this serial fixing and I literally wrote the book on it. (Serial Fixer) Ready to stop fixing everyone else and finally focus on you? And yes, even the parts you don't like.

Sometimes unexpected things or events happen to us that can make our happiness feel out of our grasp. Things like life & family transitions, chronic physical or mental illness, autoimmune disorders, romantic and familial relationships, trauma, abuse, cyber/social media related anxiety, disabilities or depression can lead you to feeling extremely overwhelmed and as if your life is out of control. This may cause you to feel trapped, alone, unsafe, or stuck in a dark chapter of your life that sometimes feels unbearable or unending. I am here to help you turn the page and progress to a new chapter of your story without judgment.

Welcome. I am committed to helping you understand and process the reasons for your current distress and then begin a process of healing and transformation. Life's currents can be calm and beautiful, and have waves that gently rock us, but occasionally storms blow in, with strong winds and rough waters. How we negotiate life's changing currents depends on our navigation skills and also our internal state and external supports. If you are feeling thrown by life's stormy weather and not sure what to do to right your ship, consider a compassionate, therapeutic consultation with me.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
