Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists in Charlotte, NC
In addition to trauma treatment, I offer Exposure and Response Prevention ( ERP) for OCD to break the cycle of obsessions and compulsions and help clients reclaim time, energy, and peace of mind.
I understand that beginning trauma therapy can feel both vulnerable and overwhelming, so I work to create a space where every part of your experience is welcome. My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in safety because meaningful healing happens when you feel supported enough to approach the memories, emotions, and patterns that have felt too painful or too scary to face alone. My work is strongly centered on trauma treatment, especially for clients experiencing post-traumatic stress, chronic hypervigilance, intrusive memories, avoidance, and emotional dysregulation.

My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including CBT ( ERP), IFS, and DBT, and is highly collaborative, educational, and tailored to your individual story.
You may appear like you have it all together on the outside, yet feel constantly preoccupied with food, stuck in rigid patterns, or driven by an exhausting need to get everything “right.” Many of the clients I work with are high-achieving and self-aware, but feel overwhelmed by anxiety, perfectionism, or a sense that their thoughts are running their life.
I specialize in working with teens and adults struggling with eating disorders, OCD, perfectionism, and high-functioning anxiety or depression. These concerns often overlap and can show up as burnout, rigid thinking, or a constant sense of pressure to “do more” or “be better”

I work with adults navigating anxiety, perfectionism, body image concerns, and eating disorders, as well as those who identify as neurodivergent, including individuals with ADHD, OCD, autism, sensory sensitivity, or brains that simply work differently than what society often expects. I especially enjoy working with women and gender-diverse individuals who are curious about learning both how to work with their thoughts alongside how to listen to and support their nervous system. I also have experience working in higher levels of care, such as PHP and IOP, and enjoy supporting clients as they navigate transitions in their treatment.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.
Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.
How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.
What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
