As a Christian therapist we can utilize both psychological tools and Christian principles to achieve breakthrough.
My job is to converge the two, both faith and psychology, to create a more holistic approach to counseling. We will work together to integrate your faith in your life as well as decrease depression, anxiety, anger, relational challenges, and low self-esteem.

While I have worked with people of all faith backgrounds, I provide Christian counseling upon request.
You've found disappointment because your life does not look the way you thought it would. Perhaps you are dealing with a major loss that has you feeling like a bomb went off in your life. Or perhaps you dreamed life would look a certain way and feel left behind, unfulfilled and unsure what you want moving forward. Or perhaps you are struggling to adjust to a life change. Even if your life looks good on the outside, you feel empty and hopeless. You cannot shake a nagging worry or sadness, and your friends and family might not understand how much your life feels like a battle. You feel alone, but you do not need to suffer in silence.

We offer Christian Therapy for NC residents virtually so you can receive help conveniently.
"I'm okay. Everything's alright". You tell yourself this repetitively while withholding tears and smiling for everyone else. You secretly struggle to believe what God says about you. Some days you feel so alone. You battle to feel loved and good enough to be the person God created you to be. Anxiety, depression, fear, grief, loss, shame and trauma have become emotional strongholds. Life seems to keep coming and you feel depleted. You ultimately want to live in freedom in your mind, no longer enslaved by the pain of the past, comparison, and even fear that your future will be failure. You desire to sense hope and fulfillment again.

I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a focus on Christian Counseling.
We will all experience depression, anxiety, stress and trauma at different chapters of our lives. Occasionally everyone needs a professional counselor to talk out our problems and find real solutions for real problems. You have already made a big step by considering counseling; now make the next step by calling a licensed therapist. It is time to start the healing process at your own pace with a therapist's professional and confidential support. The best practice is to choose a therapist who has the clinical expertise as well as the real-life experiences who can relate to you on a personal level.

My focused approaches include: Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Christian Faith-Based, Integrative, Narrative and Trauma-Informed
Sometimes, as you travel along the path of life, you encounter detours in the form of hurt, neglect, or loss that shift your direction and give you a false narrative about who you truly are. These detours may cause you to forget that you were always meant to thrive and not just survive in life. What if your path hasn't led to a dead-end but a new beginning? Would you be willing to explore unchartered territory that could lead to healing, acceptance, self-love, and empowerment?

I love to integrate a Christian perspective if, and only if, you choose to do so.
With life comes painful moments and/or seasons that try to rob us of our joy. Thankfully, I have discovered that there is space for joy and hope to coexist within our pain. It would be my privilege to share with you the knowledge and techniques that helped me overcome, to forgive, and to let go of the things that kept me from being my best self. It is my heart's desire to see every client confidently step into the person they were created to be. What's your dream? Together, let's dig up some weeds, heal, and achieve our dreams.

Maybe you've seen hypocrisy among faith leaders, Christian nationalism leading to division in relationships, or struggle to reconcile how a just God could allow so much heartache.
As a licensed counselor, I specialize in working with those experiencing faith deconstruction, wishing to process past trauma(s), and hoping to develop a healthier framework for living. This may look like dismantling shame-based thinking, reevaluating religious beliefs, and reconstructing a belief system that feels most authentic to you- without judgement.

I often use Solution Focused, Christian Counseling (if desired), Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative Therapy, Strength-Based and Person-in-Environment.
YOU are alive for a plan and a purpose. A reason worth seeking out. What's keeping your light from shining? What is blocking the flow of you completing tasks or accomplishing hopes and dreams? What's that one thing that just seems like it won't go away, so you can have joy? While you reflect, know your efforts to seek assistance with challenges you are experiencing or to build skills and enhance your overall wellbeing is saluted. I recognize the steps you have taken to arrive at this place in your life’s journey. Within you resides an act of courage, that will help you triumph over barriers interfering with your quality of life.

I have since stepped out in faith to start my own Christian Counseling Ministry because I believe that there are many Christians that struggle with their own mental health but don't seek help out of fear of what the church may think.
I specialize in Christian Counseling for the individual, couple or family. I am able to provide a biblical perspective to their mental health or marital struggles. I have worked with both adults, couples and teens and have a vast comprehension of mental health diagnoses and utilize CBT and DBT therapies to assist in developing coping strategies.

I provide supervision for LCMHC-A counselors who desire to learn therapy from a Christian perspective.
Everyone has a story. . . of joy and sorrow, love and sadness, wounds and healing. Everyone's story is sacred and waiting to be discovered. But often we struggle to read our story because of depression, anxiety, past pains, or relational difficulties. My vision is to enable people to experience God's powerful grace in order to live in true freedom, transformation and discovery. I provide a pathway for people struggling on the journey to find hope for their broken hearts, healing for their wounds, and a hiding place to wrestle with the grace of God.

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
