I work primarily with adolescents, young adults, and adults who struggle with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image. Most often, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, identity issues, and/or past trauma co-occur with eating disorders, and I have training and experience in treating these simultaneously. I hold licensure in both Ohio and North Carolina, so I am able to offer telehealth to clients in Ohio and North Carolina, and in-person services to clients in and around Charlotte.

Smart, competent, and kind people often come into my office and describe losing their sense of self. They share the feeling that life is not where they'd like it to be, and they find themselves in the same negative patterns. Sound familiar? Worry, lack of motivation, and life's "curve balls" can disrupt creating your best life. I offer therapy that provides intentional and evidence-based tools to help people find relief and create meaningful, lasting change.

I am not afraid of hearing the hard truths that you don't share with others. I find it an honor and a privilege to come along side someone who trusts me enough to share their life, the good and the bad. I have supported people who have experienced things that they believe others think to be unreal, people who believe there is no reason to keep living, people who partake in activities they know are not good for them, people who struggle to have healthy relationships, and people that have been living in darkness. I want to help you break away from that darkness. I want to provide a space that fosters security, hope, and healing.

Sapphire Health Psychology is for people who are experiencing chronic pain (including medically unexplained pain), serious illness, or weight management challenges who have exhausted traditional avenues for healing with little or no success. We explore these challenges from an angle that challenges the status quo. We see symptoms as signals for change, recognize patterns that are hindering healing, and believe that true healing is possible.

*Not currently accepting new clients* Life can be complicated, wonderful, devastating, exhilarating, and challenging. The mind as well as life’s circumstances often hinder our ability to achieve our aspirations, and we end up hurting ourselves and those we love most. Whether it’s an overwhelming feeling of incompetence and failure, struggling with negative thinking, feeling unhappy or uncomfortable with the way we look or feel, trials within our relationships, or even the relationship between food and our bodies…we are often trapped by these thoughts, feelings, and choices.

Welcome, you made it! Often times the hardest part of therapy is taking that first step to reach out and ask for help. People find their ways to therapy (or back to therapy) for many reasons - you might feel overwhelmed, be experiencing difficult life changes and transitions, have stress in relationships, or have been in survival mode for so long and want a different quality of life moving forward. The good news is whatever you are experiencing, you don't have to walk this road alone.

Offering ONLINE sessions. It’s really hard to be a woman. We feel like all the pressure is on us and we keep trying so hard to do it perfectly, but life still isn’t going the way we planned. We have the pressure of career, fertility, parenting, romantic relationships, time for a social life, and then we notice the past we’ve been running from creeping up on us. It can be exhausting, not to mention overwhelming. And is anyone talking about how hard it can be to get pregnant? It feels like our bodies are failing us, and no one understands. Instead people make insensitive comments which makes us feel even more alone.

How can I find a therapist in SouthPark, Charlotte?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
