I firmly believe that counseling is a collaborative effort between the client and the therapist and that it takes a sincere joint effort between parties to reach goals. I provide counseling strategies that use active and responsive listening skills and those that focus on development and growth by showing genuine empathy and unconditional positive regard to each client. I realize that clients come from diverse cultures and backgrounds; therefore, I am sensitive to cultural differences in the client's sense of self and how they view relationships, family, and the world.

I treat adults in life transitions, who are in grief, or have suffered trauma, depression, and anxiety. I help couples to get beneath their patterns of relating to the deeper needs they often have trouble expressing. Most my patients seek relief so they feel better about themselves and their most important relationships. My patients are challenged to learn more about who they are and how they operate so they can grow and develop. When they enter therapy with me I offer what I believe is a trusted alliance. I think that alliance is a critical piece of the therapeutic process so they feel supported and able to achieve their goals.

I work well with those who appear to be functioning well on the outside but are struggling to hold it all together on the inside. When anxiety, trauma, and depression interfere with sleep, relationships, or the ability to enjoy life, I help clients slow things down, regain balance, and feel more like themselves again. I also support clients by offering practical strategies to help them cope and move forward.

At some point after trauma work, the question changes. It’s no longer “How do I survive this?” — it becomes “Who am I now that I’m no longer just surviving?” That’s where my work lives. I specialize in trauma-informed therapy for people who are ready to move beyond symptom management and into deeper identity, relational, and authenticity work. My clients are often in transition — redefining relationships, questioning long-held roles, exploring sexuality, or untangling who they truly are from who they were conditioned to be;
those who have done meaningful healing work and are now asking deeper questions about identity, relationships,

I recognize that finding an experienced therapist can be quite time consuming & feel daunting. Our space here is limited, so lets get into it. Primary areas: anxiety, self awareness, boundaries. Boundaries! I cannot stress this enough, establishing healthy boundaries, learning to communicate & reinforce those boundaries effectively are vital. Other areas: decreasing reliance on external validation, codependency, self sabotaging tendencies, interrupting negative self talk/thought spirals, resolving shame, disentangling from unhealthy relationships and/or behaviors, differentiating motivation vs. self-discipline, coping with loss.

See More Therapists FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
