It’s not easy being a kid. You’re learning and growing—and the world isn’t always patient if you need to do so a little differently, or when “big feelings” get in the way. Not that being a teen or adult is easier. You might struggle under the weight of seemingly impossible expectations and stresses. Or you find yourself experiencing hurt in your relationships. Maybe you wish your child could handle their emotions better and really start to blossom. Or maybe, as a teen or adult, you want to find peace with yourself and healthy connection with others.

When was the last time you felt heard and listened to? Do you have the feeling of being overwhelmed? Do you feel like you've lost control of a situation or issue in your own life? Or, do you just need someone to talk to? Everyone faces some or all of these problems in life, but not everyone deals with them in a healthy way. If you are looking to change this I would be happy to help. In my practice I focus on helping you onto the path of healing that is best for you, as defined by your goals.

I am a bilingual social worker and clinician specializing in individual outpatient therapy. Among my areas of expertise are individuals who are struggling with issues of functionality, relationships, identity, self-esteem and other manifestations of life challenges. I have a focus on multicultural populations and individuals who are seeking a space to integrate their psychedelic experiences. Many people are exploring their internal landscapes with the use of psychedelics and these experiences can be intense and challenging to integrate into the psyche without consciously doing so.

I believe we are all recovering from something. As a clinician, I believe that a healthy nonjudgmental relationship is foundational to each of our healing journeys. Having someone who we can be honest with, who is honest with us, allows us to be honest with ourselves and reach our ultimate potential. While the therapeutic relationship is our foundation, I incorporate elements of motivational interviewing, solution focused, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies in order to meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.

Men's issues are a focus of my work, which can be helpful for the men who find their way here, and also for women who want a better understanding of themselves and their relationships.
We are often told by academia and media that men are inevitably toxic, that their inherent instincts will lead to difficulties and conflict. This puts them in a bind, because the same instincts that drive them to be heroic and to defend are often the same impulses that attract negative attention.

Are you feeling like you are always trying to fit into someone's else box, the version of your life that others have for you, hoping that by doing so you will finally gain acceptance and validation? You have recognized that this is a no-win situation which only produces vacillating feelings of anxiety and depression which rob you of the life you know could be yours. You are ready for change but don't know where to start. Your biggest fear that that this would be another in a series of "starts". However, your desire to live your best life is pushing you to take a chance on change, but who will walk with you?

We all belong to various systems and support systems, such as family systems; community systems; oppressive capitalistic, racist, patriarchal, and ablest systems; and more. Over the span of our lives these systems take a compounding effect on our mental health and quality of life. Building a career, attaining advanced education, establishing a supportive community of family and friends, all requires us to unpack the role of these systems on our lives. This is how we become our authentic selves.

While I have found men often seek me in part because I am a man myself, I do work with clients of all backgrounds.
I work to provide a judgment-free space where I can help others discuss and manage life’s challenges. I try to be transparent in my thoughts and advice. I am comfortable exploring topics that people may have a hard time communicating. I like to create a sense of warmth and humor, while also matching the tone of the interaction. I realize people have their own unique background, values, and culture. I appreciate these differences, and I want to help others in a way that feels right for them. I genuinely enjoy helping others and seeing them making positive changes in their lives. And I'd like to think my clients can tell.

You’re the kind of person who sets a goal and doesn’t stop until it’s achieved. From academic milestones to a thriving career, you’ve consistently exceeded expectations. But behind this success lies a different story—moments of intense self-doubt, a constant worry that you’re not “enough,” and a struggle to connect with others authentically. Despite looking polished on the outside, you feel isolated, drained, and anxious, as if you're running on empty just to keep up the facade.

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
