*Accepting new clients* My clients are typically either individuals or couples . The individuals that I work well with are typically experiencing depression or anxiety, or having trouble adjusting to life changes. I love working with those that want a challenge or help achieving specific goals. I also work largely with couples at every stage of their relationship . Navigating a relationship without effective communication is usually what brings couples to me. I then help them develop stronger friendship and intimacy and manage conflict more effectively. Let's schedule an initial consultation to see if my style is a good fit for you!

Congratulations on taking the first steps toward a happier and healthier life! Perhaps you aren't where you envisioned yourself at this stage in your life, or feel like you're constantly falling short. As a therapist, my greatest passion is providing a fresh perspective and working with clients as they learn to navigate these difficulties and rediscover what it feels like to be happy.

I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and would be honored to be a part of your journey.
Asking for help can be hard and you’re brave to be here, taking the first step. I believe that you are the expert of your life and I want to honor that. My goal is to create a welcoming space that allows you to safely process your feelings and learn more about who you are. Some issues we may focus on include the death of a loved one, trauma, depression, anxiety, and/or parenting support. I have served people across the lifespan; meeting children, adolescents, and adults where they are in their journey. As an EMDR Certified Therapist together we can process feelings, memories, and trauma that may be too difficult to manage alone.

Research reveals the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship .
Life is a journey that can often become difficult to maneuver. However, facing life's struggles can empower us to be the people we are intended to be. This process is often mentally and physically exhausting. I would be honored to walk alongside you, your child, and/or your family on your personal journey of self-discovery. I love children and specialize in non-directive play therapy with children 3-7 years of age. Additionally, I work with adolescents and teens navigating the often difficult times of transition through middle/high school. Finally, I have a heart to work with women in life transitions.

I have experience providing both brief and long-term counseling for a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, substance and alcohol use, relationship stress, trauma and PTSD, and more.
Counseling is a voluntary and collaborative process. This requires that you be actively involved and willing to set and work toward specific goals. Counseling is a tool that individuals can use to deal with problems in a way that is best for that individual. Your counselor cannot “fix,” “cure,” or “heal” you in any way. However, unconditional acceptance, listening and understanding, professional expertise, and honest communication can help you reach your goals to achieving a happier, healthier life!

I have worked and trained in a variety of settings both in the public and private sectors dealing with children, family counseling, couples and adults.
My focus is to assist children, adolescents, families, and adults to build positive self image through enhancing self esteem, improving social skills, and reducing family and peer conflicts. I work closely with parents to strengthen their limit setting, clear expectations, and conflict resolution abilities through improved communication skills. Setting limits and boundaries in all relationships and dynamics is a tool that I often use in my therapeutic process. Giving children, parents, couples and individuals tools to maneuver through the daily issues are tools and techniques that I focus on in our sessions.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
