I work primarily with female adolescents and young adults with a history of chronic illness, trauma, perfectionism, depression, anxiety, and/or mood disorders.
Currently Accepting Clients ( Telehealth/in person) My name is Vanessa Guererro and I am a clinical therapist with Winter to Spring Wellness.Prior to being in Asheville for almost a decade, I originally hail from Miami, Fl. I am a proud daughter of Cuban immigrants and a first-generation college student. As a teen I had my own battles with physical and mental wellness, difficulties with acculturation as well as struggled with cultural stigma in regard to mental health care. Through my own work, I have been able to find healing and am now honored to support others who struggle with their own mental wellness and similar issues.

Do you struggle with motherhood more than other women you know?.
I understand first hand just how especially hard motherhood can feel for neurodivergent individuals. That's why in my work I am passionate about helping ADHD, autism or other ND moms better understand the special challenges you face, and grow the skills to support your unique needs so you can start thriving in motherhood.

Most of my clients are women—therapists, mothers, and those in midlife—but I love working with anyone who is passionate about this approach.
Rooted in my PhD studies in psychodynamic psychotherapy, a level of depth weaves through all the modalities I integrate. My approach integrates somatic practices with archetypal wisdom, such as the Enneagram, exploring how our core archetypes are held as structures and expressions in the body.

My passion is empowering women and men to connect to their hearts and unlock their unlimited brilliance.
Here’s the thing: you are much more magnificent and brilliant than you ever thought possible! You may just need guidance & support to go inward and discover this truth. You may have already gone to therapy and still find yourself stuck in patterns of victimhood, scarcity, unworthiness, disempowerment, shame, anxiety, depression, and fear, just to name a few. Do you still get caught up in your old habits and stories, which causes suffering for you and those you love? Do you have anxiety and fear around stepping into your power and dream life?

I have experience with grief, ADHD, ASD, LBGQT, and working with women in finding their own sense of self-compassion, self-esteem, and empowerment.
I am passionate about connecting, supporting and validating clients through life's challenges. I recognize that the world can be a difficult place at times, and everyone can use encouragement, the ability to gain insight, and inspiration. My goal is to work with clients to recognize that the critical voice in your head isn't actually telling the truth. It can be tricky to believe in yourself and find your inner strength when your head tells you the opposite! I like helping clients find their authentic inner voice, that inspires positivity, empowerment, and the ability to believe in the goodness within all of us.

My clients are typically women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, or couples of all kinds, who desire to break generational patterns, learn to communicate and connect differently, or who are seeking clarity about their relationship.
You’ve tried everything to reconnect with your partner, save your relationship, or remind yourself of why you fell in love way back when. You’re feeling resentful, the emotional labor feels one sided, and it feels impossible to find each other through the chaos of work, kids, life. It’s terrifying and overwhelming to be fighting all the time, and you’re confused about how it all fell apart. You want to understand the recurring argument and the missed connections that you're having, and start to rebuild the love that you’re afraid to lose.

My calling is to journey alongside women that have experienced abuse, domestic violence, addiction or other painful experiences and watch them come into their own power and regain trust and confidence in becoming their most resilient and authentic selves.
If you have been told or feel that you are not worth the effort or time, I am here to tell you different. I work from a person-centered, strengths-based lens that is non-judgmental, authentic, and compassionate. I became a counselor because I was a lost and angry girl who became a resilient woman through community, counseling, and commitment to the process.

I am a 20 year private practice therapist specializing in women and older adolescent females.
Aside from specializing in women and older adolescents, I am certified and train other clinicians in EMDR. I treat traumas both large and small, overt and subtle. We often discount the ways these stifle our spirit. Like my adults, my teens leave their work with me having been asked key questions about who they want to be as they walk through life.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
