I firmly believe that you know yourself better than anyone in this world. You live your life, feel your feelings, and encounter your consequences that feel both positive and negative. Often times there is a dilemma within oneself when it comes to the idea of change. We tend to lean towards old familiar belief systems even if those beliefs no longer offer us what we want in our lives. In order to change, we need momentum, and sometimes we just need a little help to get us started. That is exactly what our work will touch on.

Have you been thinking that maybe it would be easier if you just weren't here anymore? It's awful, isn't it? Well, if you are going through hell... keep going. You made it this far. And even though it may seem like things will never get better, I'm here to listen, validate, and help you find a way out.

I was formerly with Southpoint Counseling and now can be found at Remedy Sense Counseling. My focus is on helping couples and individuals overcome obstacles from their past or present in a manner that allows them to become successful in life now. I strive to assist people in finding their inner strength and develop a stronger sense of self-confidence. My "ideal client" is the individual who desires to no longer be held captive by the events of their past and is ready and motivated to create their best possible life! I believe that there is hope for the hurting and counseling can assist with this.

Anxiety can make you feel stuck, but there is hope that you can feel better. We all experience stressors that show up in our life in different ways including: anxiety, depression, anger, fear, unhappiness, unfulfilling relationships, conflict, or emotional pain. My passion is working with individuals to better manage their anxiety, fears and anger. How different would life be if you were able to learn new ways to work with your anxiety instead of trying to "eliminate" anxious thoughts and feelings completely? You can learn and apply practical strategies that help you tolerate the ups and downs of life.

You may feel like something is missing or unfulfilled in your relationships or career. Fatigue and feelings of burnout become a daily struggle. Maybe your mind is racing and you worry all the time. You feel alone and wonder why you have difficulty connecting with others. How you think about your challenges, self, and others has a direct effect on how well you are coping and healing.

Many of us desire a sense of calm, connection, and well-being. Yet life circumstances and even parts of ourselves can prevent us from having these experiences in our day to day lives. Providing a safe and non-judgmental place to explore your struggles and emotional pain is essential to my practice. I feel honored to support those who desire to grow and heal.

I've practiced in mental health for more than 15 years and I still have the same passion I did when I started. I trust that part of the reason that I remain committed to this work is because I practice what I preach. I constantly have to remind myself that I can do hard things and I wake up every day manifesting my purpose. The most rewarding part of my job is watching you grow into the person you've set out to be. I pride myself on true social work values; which include integrity, ethical practices, and quality services. I have specialized certification and training in trauma and a long work history in family systems therapy.

My counseling approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Therapeutic Yoga and Dialectical Behavioral therapy. There is no greater power than helping individuals to overcome mental and emotional barriers/ traumas that impede overall health & well-being. I believe that we are the “Author of our story” and our voyage is to own the “Ink” that writes “Our” story. It is important that my clients are provided a safe space, free of judgment, and are given an environment to express themselves. I am committed as a Clinical Social Worker to creating an emotional environment where change and healing are possible.

Life is messy, complex, and full of paradoxes. It is not easy to navigate life’s highs and lows, much less create a peaceful and authentic life in a world that often feels confusing and chaotic. My hope as a counselor is to provide a space that ultimately allows you to access your intrinsic strengths needed to design the life you truly want. I can join you on your journey to heal from trauma, unlearn patterns of suffering, and reconnect to your values. I am a Certified IFS Therapist and primarily use Internal Family Systems therapy with clients.

ONLY Providing Virtual Therapy in NC. I'm a fully licensed clinical social worker with 7 years of professional experience in an outpatient therapy setting. I work with a wide range of disorders but I'm most experienced at working with females dealing with depression, anxiety, adhd, family conflict, and relationship issues/abuse. I have a relaxed style of therapy where clients can attend sessions in whatever setting they need to. Need to do a session during your lunch break while you eat? No problem. Kids running around in the background? That's fine, just wear your earbuds. I get it. It's hard to find time, but I will work with you.

I am honored to be of service to you. I know that trauma and substance abuse and addiction can wreak havoc in one's life. Many of client's find themselves faced with challenges of having to restart their lives during mental challenges and addiction; some may have to fight to regain custody of their children; many of them have co-occurring mental illness that has lead to substance abuse and/or addiction. For some, addiction comes by way of biological, environmental, and social influences, but from my experience, I have learned that mental illness was present before addiction became a factor. Take Control Today!

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
