Welcome. I believe that you inherently have all you need within you to heal, and together we will discover & utilize it. I sit with those who are moving through transitions in life, navigating relationship or family conflict, processing loss & grief, or have survived unwanted sexual experiences & trauma during childhood or as an adult. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or are questioning your self-worth or how to move forward, we will uncover ways to bring ease, peacefulness and growth through building self-acceptance and self-trust as a foundation.

I have a specific licensure in addiction (LCAS) and trauma (TF-CBT, EMDR).
I want to hear your story. You know... the story of getting in trouble in elementary school, your first major accomplishment, when your parents split up, the first time you fell in love, the career path you're currently questioning, and what it feels like to age. The official line: I am a therapist has a wide background in the mental health field. The human line: I believe connection and vulnerability takes courage. This life shit is hard. Through the power of sharing your story and myself as a passenger in your journey, we can make life feel, well, less like you're losing the battle and more like you're the hero of your story.

With more than forty years of experience, I have worked with a very wide variety of clients, but my focus has been on various issues relating to trauma . While we can never change what has happened in our past, we can change what that history means for our future. No one wants to remain stuck in the past, forever reliving its tragedies or repeating our mistakes. When we can learn from those mistakes and use the tragedies of the past for fertilizer, we can begin to appreciate the present and the possibilities for future growth become real.

These include Internal Family Systems Therapy, EMDR, mindfulness based CBT and DBT, and trauma sensitive yoga.
I work with adults and couples who have a wide range of goals and challenges. I believe connection to oneself, to others, to community and to spirit are fundamental issues that underlie the particular problems people bring to therapy, as well as the solutions that emerge through therapeutic work.

We all have times we need someone to be by our side as we uncover, explore, and heal. Times we need help seeing and changing our patterns. I believe with the right space and partnership you can come to know yourself in a healthier manner and come to a place of peace- not just with yourself and your different parts but also with your relationships. What causes the need for this process? Trauma , addiction, depression, attachment wounds, anxiety. These are all things that disrupt our abilities to thrive or even function at times.

I have been working with individuals struggling with trauma , addiction, and grief and loss for nearly eight years.
Hello! I believe that each one of us comes into this world with particular strengths and gifts to offer. Through the turmoil, loss, and pain we face, we often become disconnected from our true and whole self, losing sight of these strengths and gifts. In our work together, my goal is to provide a safe and therapeutic container for you to explore what is blocking you from your joy, supporting and guiding you in reclaiming your whole self.

You really want to talk about it. You don’t! It’s too painful. Or maybe you don’t even know what you feel or what to say. Feeling alone there hurts. Bringing others into what you struggle with most can make you feel worse. It’s hard to not believe something is really wrong, if not with you, then with others. A sense of feeling trapped in this bind, especially as a couple or as a person with trauma , can lead to feelings of hopelessness. Why is it so hard to just to connect?

I have experience working with children and adults on issues such as anxiety, depression, social skills, emotion regulation, trauma , exploring personal identities, and navigating life changes including divorce and grief.
It is natural for us to encounter bumps in the road every now and then. But sometimes, those bumps feel like mountains and it can feel like we’re stuck. I am here to walk with you and help you move forward in times like these. I believe deeply in the power of human connection in the path to healing and self-compassion. I understand the vulnerability that it can take to seek therapy. My goal in our work together is to create a safe space where you can bring your whole, authentic self. My work as a therapist is grounded in a client-centered approach, meaning that your goals will guide our work together.

My interest in trauma specific work began in 2010 with Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training.
An ideal client would be someone who has possibly done some therapy work in the past, and still feels stuck in the area of relationships, addictions, trauma , grief or loss or someone who has never been to therapy previously. There are many places to get stuck in life, I find it interesting to find ways out of that place.

I know personally how hard it can be to experience sexual/physical/emotional trauma /addiction/depression/grief/financial/relational ruin/overwhelming anxiety. Hoping to get through a day with the jaw clenching/palm sweating/handshakes/thoughts racing/heart pounding/doubting every idea/thought/emotion, asking will this be forever? Sometimes, you experience paralyzing nightmares or dreams that you are moving in slow motion and feel so alone and isolated when in a crowded room. Moreover, the constant dread (or the invisible weighted depression blanket). I get it; I've lived it and worked with many others who have.

I treat: Adults, pre-adolescents and adolescents, Trauma , substance abuse, process addictions, family dynamics, sexuality, sexual abuse, LGBTQ specific issues, relationship and attachment issues, self-harm, eating disorders, self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, anger, ADHD, adoption issues, domestic violence, and bipolar disorder.
Wholeness leads to healing. I guide my clients to accept all parts of themselves and find balance in their lives. I entered the field of counseling with a passion for treating trauma (big T and little t trauma ). Along the way I gathered some exceptional tools for doing so, including EMDR and a somatic approach to psychotherapy. Not so far removed from trauma , I have also developed a specialty in treating addiction of all kinds. I have seen the power of emotional healing to transform people's lives in ways they always wanted but didn't know how. I am here to help whenever the client is ready to do that brave and powerful work.

In 30 years of practice, I have provided compassionate support for people who are struggling with various conditions including PTSD , Trauma , Addiction, Relationship Issues, Anxiety, Depression, and other issues that may be preventing them from reaching their full potential.
Sometimes in life, we just feel overwhelmed. Anxious, depressed, scared. Old behavior patterns and self-limiting beliefs can often cause us to feel "stuck". Having a trained, experienced, and supportive professional to guide you through these frustrating, and often painful experiences, can be the key to making the change you want in your life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
