My work is largely as an innate wisdom coach, I believe you'll learn to listen and trust your own innate wisdom, as we work collaboratively to move you past what's blocking wholeness. If given the right support and nurturance, our psyches, much like our bodies, will naturally move towards healing and higher consciousness. My work combines insight and intuition with a warm, open, and interactive style.

I work with couples who are having difficulties in the
marriage
and partnerships and recognize they need help to make positive changes. I facilitate Emotionally Focused Therapy, used worldwide, that helps couples create a trusting and loving relationship. With an emphasis on emotions, EFT helps couples learn how to stop their no-win fights, let their defenses down, and share more from the heart. With mindfulness, couples become more self aware and more accepting and empathic towards their partner. Over time, couples feel more open and loving toward each other and move much easier through any conflicts that arise.

I am a Licensed
Marriage
and Family Therapist (MFT) - but over half of my clients are individuals.
What does it REALLY mean to be holistic and integrative? It means - you are a universe of different thoughts, quirks, capabilities, physical attributes, emotions, neurological functions, shortcomings, and strengths. It means problems aren't created - or solved - in a vacuum. In order to truly heal, we have to address the relationships between mind, body, spirit, and emotions. We have to consider the Universe. I work with members of all faiths (Christian or not) to restore the connection between mental health, physical health and spiritual health.

I have a MS in Community Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University, 13 years’ experience working in community mental health settings, and 20 years’ experience of leadership in various church settings such as Celebrate Recovery, teaching
marriage
enrichment conferences and classes, and facilitating men’s groups.
As a counselor, it is an honor to come alongside you in your story, and assist you in figuring out the next chapter of where you want it to go based on the values that are most important to you. Together we will work to identify places where you have become stuck, or perhaps where you have become your own worst enemy, and over time I will help you develop a fresh perspective of your identity and new skills for tackling the problems of life. I have a passion for helping individuals and couples sort through relational and emotional conflicts, because relationships are so frequently messy.

For the past 15 years I've worked exclusively assisting couples in understanding and correcting missteps in their
marriage
or primary relationship - and helping them to discover how to establish rich, fulfilling, and solid connections and communication. If your
marriage
isn't feeling as stable as you'd like, you're likely experiencing some heartache, worry, or some resentment. Having intense emotions in this situation is certainly normal, but they also make effective communication even more difficult... right when it's most needed. Using the expertise of a couples counselor in these times can be a very worthwhile investment.

Marriage
is fucking hard. I heard a quote recently where someone asked the secret to making
marriage
work. The response was, “We never wanted to get divorced at the same time.”
Marriage
can feel like a roller coaster. Then add the obstacles of children, work schedules and stress, and daily ups and downs and you may find yourself miles apart from your partner. What happened to the fun? What happened to the intimacy and connection? Where the hell did it go? It’s time to make your
marriage
the priority. It’s time to reconnect and reignite the fire that was once there. It is possible to salvage and repair what has been broken.

Do you take care of everyone but yourself? Do your intimate relationships, parenting, career goals, and life in general suck away your mojo? When life feels so demanding that you can't keep up, how do you find your way back to center? Maybe you're struggling not to fight with your partner or children. Maybe you're scared of "not letting anyone down." Maybe the thought of conflict makes you want to throw up. Maybe you have no idea who you are or what you want, but you're ready to explore how you got here. It's not too late to salvage your relationships— or your own sense of self and wellbeing.

How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
