I'm credentialed by the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies to provide CBT, and I also use other evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),
EMDR
, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-based therapies.
Anxiety, Addiction, or Depression might have you feeling like you've lost touch with the life you really want. You might feel alone in all this, but I promise you're not. I help people just like you learn concrete tools and strategies to achieve the life you want. It's ok if you aren't sure what you want. We can figure it out together and build a roadmap for how to get there. The most important thing that a client needs is a therapist who is nonjudgmental, compassionate, relatable, and down to earth - so I work hard to embody these qualities.

I use the evidence-based practice
EMDR
and other modalities to help clients increase resilience.
As we increase our ability to meet life from a state of relaxed, focused awareness, our answers emerge naturally. The brain/mind/body is always working towards health and well-being. Sometimes there are blocks in the way. These blocks create anxiety and depression in various forms. I believe the purpose of therapy is to help remove barriers to allow your own natural healing to proceed. A safe, accepting, and collaborative therapeutic relationship fosters increased emotional balance and well-being, including at the level of your neurochemistry. I use various approaches and work with clients as co-detectives to explore your answers.

Let's work together to improve your life and create a more hopeful future! I also offer
EMDR
therapy to support trauma clients.
Life sometimes presents challenges that can overwhelm and disconnect us from ourselves and leave us feeling lost and alone. Whether we are adults or children, we can develop patterns that do not serve us well, as we struggle to cope. I help clients (individuals and couples) examine rather than run from their anxiety, depression, or uncomfortable feelings arising from change, whether at work, in school or at home. I believe that we all have strengths and the potential for well-being. Together we will reduce conflict and stress in your life, improve performance and seek better health.

I am trained in talk, art, and

therapy models.
Welcome! Counseling offers a safe, nonjudgmental, space for exploring the psyche, finding meaning in challenging life events, and experiencing a sense of hope. The counseling process can be creative and exciting, and at times, it can be difficult. I seek to be open, supportive, curious, and responsive to my clients as they navigate their journey. I lean toward a psychodynamic psychotherapy model, exploring how our attachment styles, family stories, coping mechanisms, and unconscious layers of thoughts and feelings influence our present day life.

You do not have to have a major life event happening, a traumatic experience that you can't shake, or complete instability in your life to seek therapy. All of us have points in our life that feel okay, neutral, or perhaps even joyful. We also have points in which we feel pain, suffering, and left wondering why suffering is part of the human experience. It's when we are no longer able to shift out of our highs and lows so easily, that there may be something deeper going on.

I utilize various evidence based approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (
EMDR
) and brainspotting.
I believe that every person embodies their own answers and inner wisdom but can often encounter obstacles that make it difficult to access their full capabilities and strengths. I enjoy providing guidance and exploration of the parts of oneself that have been suppressed or avoided as a mechanism of survival. I use a direct and person-centered approach to help to transform patterns that are often instinctual and comfortable, but ultimately unhealthy. I meet clients wherever they are emotionally and incorporate an approach in which I provide a safe space for clients to become empowered at their own pace.

Life can be tough. You had expectations of what you thought life would be. What you thought it would be like to perhaps be a mother, to raise a child, and to connect with your family. You imagined it, maybe even dreamed about it. However now you find that living it is not what you expected. Or perhaps not as fulfilling as you had imagined and hoped for. You feel disconnected, and maybe even guilty or frustrated.

Through IFS,
EMDR
, and other therapies, you will free yourself from your past and we will strengthen your skills to maximize your potential and functioning in the present.
I am still only seeing clients via tele-health. In a free first session we will discuss working together on-line. I use a combination of IFS (Internal Family Systems) and
EMDR
. IFS is an extraordinary therapy. In safe, gentle, respectful ways, IFS accesses and TRANSFORMS that which is the cause of your problems: your hidden and not-so-hidden fears, shame, anger, hurt… why you have negative thinking (I’m not good enough, things are not the way I want them to be), as well as the negative ways you may be acting (in anger, critical, impatient, abusing substances). I use a special on-line platform for
EMDR
which I am finding works well.

I am certified in
EMDR
; my approach is attachment focused, informed by mindfulness, somatic, Jungian, IFS, Sand-tray, DBT, Spiritual, and yoga therapies.
I approach therapy from a trauma perspective because regardless if you’re experiencing depression, poor self esteem, relationship problems, divorce, abuse, anxiety/panic, addiction, self-harm, or simply procrastination — there’s likely something from your past that’s playing havoc with your life today. Whatever holds you captive will also reveal the key for your more positive future. That’s why it’s imperative we start there. Left to yourself, it might just get more muddy and feel overwhelming. But, I’ve witnessed clients transform a negative self concept and painful past into strength, resilience, and healthy living.

I tailor therapy to you, incorporating practices from mindfulness-based practices, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and
EMDR
to help you find peace and contentment with the past, to heal in the present, and to care for yourself in the future.
Please note: I provide online therapy in 25 states. Hello and welcome! I am a clinical psychologist who supports people to achieve their highest levels of well-being. In life, we all struggle at times. Whether you are you are going through a life transition such as pregnancy or new motherhood, or struggling to make the baby you have always wanted due to infertility, the days can be so up and down. And if you are single and trying to navigate the world of dating (pre or post-divorce), the loneliness can be hard to bear at times. I'd like you to know, you don't have to bear it alone.

, somatic approach to psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, art therapy, narrative therapy, Addictions counseling and relapse prevention, internal family systems, Jungian dream interpretation, attachment-informed counseling, healthy coping skills, family system therapy.
Wholeness leads to healing. I guide my clients to accept all parts of themselves and find balance in their lives. I entered the field of counseling with a passion for treating trauma (big T and little t trauma). Along the way I gathered some exceptional tools for doing so, including
EMDR
and a somatic approach to psychotherapy. Not so far removed from trauma, I have also developed a specialty in treating addiction of all kinds. I have seen the power of emotional healing to transform people's lives in ways they always wanted but didn't know how. I am here to help whenever the client is ready to do that brave and powerful work.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
