My specialty is treating folks with trauma, anxiety, codependency tendencies, and/or those struggling with navigating through life's transitions.
Currently accepting new clients for remote sessions only "What's past is prologue" PROLOGUE, which means your past is not the whole story! You are the author of your future. You can grow, learn, and heal. You can "dwell in possibility." I believe that you possess the raw materials for growth, I believe you possess strengths and skills to heal, and I believe you have a unique story to tell and a right to be heard. I will strive to provide a safe and sacred space for you to share your story. I believe that mutual respect and trust between counselor and client makes all the difference.

My primary areas of clinical focus include attachment wounding, complex trauma, consensual nonmonogamy, grief and loss, protective behaviors/ codependency , conscious uncoupling, relationship and life transitions, and spiritual transformations.
I’m guided by my belief in the eternal worth and inherent wisdom of each person. Each individual is the expert of their own experience, and, within each of us, lies an immense power for self-healing. My therapeutic style can be described as warm, collaborative, and experiential. I view my role in this process as a facilitator, working alongside individuals as they reflect upon their experiences, broaden their awareness, and investigate ongoing behavioral patterns. Together, we may begin to freely explore prevailing paradigms and construct a more personalized path forward.

I have extensive experience working with attachment/relationship issues, trauma, family dysfunction, codependency , life transitions, grief, and recovery-related topics.
Indeed it is a troubled time. Our difficulties as human beings have grown in magnitude and complexity. The growing demands of everyday living and the lack of community-feeling has left many feeling lost, confused, homeless, lonely and afraid. Being human is messy business. We are expected to bear the load of so many complex emotions that result from the deaths of those we love, stress, major life changes, marital and interpersonal difficulties, family histories, parenting, keeping up with the pace of life and making a living on top of it all.

When we've experienced unhealthy relationship dynamics or trauma, it can be hard to know how to trust ourselves and others. This can lead to low self-worth, codependency , repeating unwanted patterns, depression, or relational issues. Safely exploring what is at the core of these issues will allow you to live a more authentic and connected life. I work primarily with women who want to uncover their core beliefs and subconscious patterns in order to consciously create the life they desire. Unburden yourself by learning how to compassionately accept your story, process your emotions, and become the safe, loving place you yearn for.

I work with individuals to identify strategies used for self-preservation or survival, whether through self-betrayal, substance abuse, codependency , or other subtle or more overt strategies, and to explore how they might show up differently or more authentically in vulnerable moments.
My approach to therapy starts with learning about how the individual has come to experience the world, knowing that this is shaped by traumatic events, societal expectations, attachments to primary caregivers, systemic racism, wiring passed down by ancestors, conditioned responses of the nervous system, so forth and so on. In doing so, we might also uncover blind spots that contribute to the ways we show up in our lives that no longer serve us. My style is direct and open, using a here-and-now perspective rooted in mindfulness-based and existential-humanistic theories.

I am a transpersonal therapist focused on healing the split associated with trauma. Trauma can disconnect a person from their original truth and create a disconnect in the mind-body and spirit of a person. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and the Inner Counselor are two highly effective approaches I offer. I see clients with panic disorder and depression, sexual abuse, abusive relationships, codependency and self-esteem issues and more. Bringing health and balance back around areas that have become compulsions (eating, sex, alcohol, relationships, etc.) is another important part of this personal healing journey.

My expertise aligns best with adults with ADHD and/or Autism, religious trauma, sexual trauma, perfectionism, codependency , depression, anxiety, existential dread, women ready to reclaim their power, and those ready to improve their boundaries and communication.
Imagine a recent mental health challenge. Maybe the trauma you’ve carried suddenly brought you to your knees, or your neurodivergence made you fear you’ll always be behind. Now imagine how that challenge may change if you have a relationship with a therapist who you genuinely like and trust - who never loses sight of your strengths even if you do, helps you understand your unique brain with developmental neuroscience, gives you tools and perspective shifts to make your struggle easier, holds a safe space to process all of your traumas, and believes in you so fiercely that you start to believe in yourself. Sound helpful? Let’s talk.

I particularly have experience with caregivers overwhelmed with dementia issues, those experiencing memory problems, stress, codependency , anxiety, family dynamics and spiritual issues.
I believe most change occurs in trusted relationships where one feels valued and heard. By offering support, encouragement, and affirmation, l hope to create a safe and compassionate place where we can explore those family dynamics, life issues and personal choices that make up your life story. By uncovering faulty thinking that results in damaging patterns of relating, you will better understand who you are and who you want to become. We will explore ways to make changes so you are not ruled by addictions. Together, we will come up with strategies so that you may make the necessary changes to experience growth and healing.

Over the last 12 years, I have provided individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults struggling with bereavement, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, transitioning, attachment, stress, loss, family conflict, divorce, codependency , and trauma.
Evolve or repeat. Therapy, by nature, can be challenging. It can appear scary, overwhelming, and anxiety-inducing; you are essentially vocalizing (to a stranger!) your challenges, weaknesses, mistakes, and insecurities. And sometimes that needs to happen to grow. My mantra over the last year has been to evolve or repeat. That’s it. Evolve or repeat. Frequently we establish and maintain patterns of thoughts and behaviors, based on past experiences and memories of which are unhealthy and unproductive. These patterns and cycles are the root to unhappiness.

Working from a transpersonal framework I utilize approaches that work to address core challenges whose symptoms are often expressed somatically through the body as physical illness &/or through the mind behaviorally enacted & expressed through addiction, anxiety, depression, codependency & narcissistic abuse in consequence to emotional/traumatic experiences.
An Awakened Heart is the result of love and dedication in wanting to therapeutically serve others in their desire toward psychological well-being. Utilizing cognitive & transpersonal approaches specific to individual needs, the work lends toward a more whole and integrated sense of self. Through purposeful focus on self-recovery, the vision is to bring forth the best of whom we are, despite challenges, traumas & the emotional pain we are so often identifying. By reconnecting to ourselves we can begin to understand the themes roles & behavioral patterns that interfere and sabotage the changes we are trying to engage.

Life sometimes presents challenges that can overwhelm and disconnect us from ourselves and leave us feeling lost and alone. Whether we are adults or children, we can develop patterns that do not serve us well, as we struggle to cope. I help clients (individuals and couples) examine rather than run from their anxiety, depression, or uncomfortable feelings arising from change, whether at work, in school or at home. I believe that we all have strengths and the potential for well-being. Together we will reduce conflict and stress in your life, improve performance and seek better health.

It is common to see therapy as a journey to discover the Self. We have familiar maps, or patterns, which can lead to unhappiness or self-sabotaging behavior. You may find yourself stranded in all-too-familiar territory with little idea of how to move on. Like many journeys, it can be an exciting adventure but can also be full of unknowns. I see my role as your guide, to blaze new “routes” together that have worked well for others. As Helen Keller once said: “What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me.” I truly believe the exquisite joy you find by falling in love with yourself is a journey you don’t want to miss!

Something feels “off”. At the end of the day, you are utterly exhausted and left feeling unfulfilled, empty, and drained, both physically and emotionally. You realize that you’ve given everything you’ve got, and then some, to the people in your life, but you’ve received practically nothing in return. You ask yourself: why am I always getting the short end of the stick, especially in my romantic, familial, and professional relationships? Why am I so worried about what other people think and feel, and why don’t others reciprocate the time, care, and attention I give to them? "I can't do this any longer", you think to yourself.

Codependency Therapists
Codependency is a personality style characterized by a need to constantly help others, especially one's primary partner, and especially a person who's addicted. Codependent people usually put aside their own needs in order to try to meet the needs of another person or other people
