I am passionate about helping those who want to make change and are struggling with the motivation to do so. I love supporting humans who have always had it all together and now need support. I believe both counseling and healing are full-person activities surrounding the mind, the body, and the spirit. I believe different things will work for different people. I approach and meet every client where they are and may use motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, or client-centered therapy. I enjoy working with young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use, grief and trauma.

I bring specialized knowledge in utilizing neuropsychology, working somatically with attachment and trauma and supporting addiction recovery individually and within the family.
Once the cells of the body know the experience of safety, honesty and trust within one relationship it can then emulate the experience in other relationships, this is the healing power that counseling offers. And without the elements of safety, honesty and trust the brain holds on tightly to old ways of being which makes change difficult. I am committed to offering all of my training, skills and experience in the service of creating a healthy, collaborative therapeutic relationship that fosters personal growth and healing.

I have been working with individuals struggling with trauma, addiction , and grief and loss for nearly eight years.
Hello! I believe that each one of us comes into this world with particular strengths and gifts to offer. Through the turmoil, loss, and pain we face, we often become disconnected from our true and whole self, losing sight of these strengths and gifts. In our work together, my goal is to provide a safe and therapeutic container for you to explore what is blocking you from your joy, supporting and guiding you in reclaiming your whole self.

As a licensed clinical addiction specialist, I'll assess your issues and make recommendations of how I can help you through somatic experiencing, a body-oriented and mindfullness based approach.
Lets explore your life experience in a new and exciting way. I see suffering as an opportunity to break free from old patterns, habits, and ways of thinking that are not working for you anymore. It's a call from deep inside saying, "something needs to shift". This shift can come from exploring a relationship to a substance that you are using, and the pain, anxiety, depression, or a general sense of not loving your life that may come with it. Your unique journey is here right now, and experiencing it from a nonjudgmental perspective can be a vital ingredient to moving past whatever is holding you back from living your best life.

I have a specific licensure in addiction (LCAS) and trauma (TF-CBT, EMDR).
I want to hear your story. You know... the story of getting in trouble in elementary school, your first major accomplishment, when your parents split up, the first time you fell in love, the career path you're currently questioning, and what it feels like to age. The official line: I am a therapist has a wide background in the mental health field. The human line: I believe connection and vulnerability takes courage. This life shit is hard. Through the power of sharing your story and myself as a passenger in your journey, we can make life feel, well, less like you're losing the battle and more like you're the hero of your story.

My calling is to journey alongside women that have experienced abuse, domestic violence, addiction or other painful experiences and watch them come into their own power and regain trust and confidence in becoming their most resilient and authentic selves. Your anxious feelings of the unknown and depressing feelings of past experiences have been hurdles for you to climb as you maneuver your way from surviving to thriving in life. You’ve felt a loss of hope for your future. Perhaps you’ve experienced a glimmer of hope from time to time and know it exists, but struggle to hang on for fear of falling.

I specialize in the treatment of substance use disorders, grief, trauma, and mood disorders in adults 35+.
My clients are adults experiencing challenges with addiction , anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions, trauma, grief and loss. I believe deep listening can be an antidote to the impersonality of our increasingly busy world. My therapy style is collaborative and strengths-based, helping people tap into their inner wisdom and resources. I am generally fascinated by people - their stories, challenges, interests, hopes, loves, struggles, and goals. I particularly enjoy helping people discover and change patterns that are no longer useful, uncover neglected parts of themselves, and grow into the successful people they mean to be.

We all have times we need someone to be by our side as we uncover, explore, and heal. Times we need help seeing and changing our patterns. I believe with the right space and partnership you can come to know yourself in a healthier manner and come to a place of peace- not just with yourself and your different parts but also with your relationships. What causes the need for this process? Trauma, addiction , depression, attachment wounds, anxiety. These are all things that disrupt our abilities to thrive or even function at times.

I’m not going to try to sell it to you that I get it. I think that comes with time for someone to truly understand where you’re coming from. There are so many different approaches and therapists out there, it can be really overwhelming to find the right fit. I really enjoy working with young adults, adolescents, and children. I work with a variety of concerns, but find I am most comfortable with individuals who are going through life transitions, substance use, social anxiety, professionals with imposter syndrome, high achievers with anxiety/depression, and supporting parents with emotion coaching strategies.

Perhaps you want to leave a painful relationship or get out of an addiction cycle.
Do you feel stuck, stalled, and overwhelmed? Do you feel shame, grief, or isolation? You might feel debilitating worry, have chronic sadness, or even struggle to get out of bed every day. You probably feel lost, unsteady, and lonely. Perhaps you don’t know why you feel so empty and dissatisfied, but nothing you try seems to produce long-term changes. Or, maybe you are aware of a particular issue causing you pain, such as an unfulfilling job or relationship, and carry deep self-doubt or shame. This discomfort is the part of you that is longing for something different. But another part feels unsure and uncomfortable with change.

I am passionate about supporting individuals who identify as women as they navigate the challenges of life. Addiction and recovery, relationship issues/co-dependence, chronic mental and physical dis-ease, and pregnancy/postpartum and parenting can bring us to places of deep loneliness, suffering and desperation. Past experiences have shaped our path and our behaviors. Brilliant strategies that enabled us to survive through trauma and adversity no longer serve us. It IS possible to shift those patterns. With loving connection and non-judgment I create a safe space for individuals to do the deep work that results in real life change.

Though I work with everyone, and all are welcome, always, I specialize in working with adolescent teens and adult men. Emphasizing mindfulness, my work is particularly effective in dealing with patterns of substance use or other addictive tendencies, social anxiety, ADHD, and important life transitions. Rather than having my own agenda, I appreciate helping clients clarify and compassionately move toward their vision, find meaning through challenge, and gain deeper understanding of their own dilemmas. I also enjoy helping people learn to communicate authentically with their loved ones in ways that help change detrimental patterns.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason, “interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
